  • Why Relaxation in Childbirth?

Speaking of childbirth, we always mean work, work, stress and thereby put ourselves in unbearable conditions.

In childbirth it is very important to be able to rest, relax, otherwise constant tension lowers the pain threshold, and births turn into suffering, and not into joy.

In order to understand how to relax in childbirth, it is necessary to disassemble the mechanisms of neuromuscular interactions. Receiving a signal from the stimulus, the brain interprets it and selects a response. Receiving the signal from the uterus during labor( irritant - contractions of the uterus), the brain determines it as a signal of pain, or as a signal to start work. Then the brain chooses a reaction: either the whole body tension, or relaxation with controlled breathing. Here it is necessary to work out a conditioned reflex! As a result of repeated training, relaxation and special breathing will become an automatic response to labor experienced in childbirth.

Pain is an individual concept, the power of sensation of pain depends on the attitude towards it. Fear, fatigue, stress intensify the subjective sensation of pain, but if a woman gives birth with a positive attitude to the process of birth, it will help her to raise the pain threshold. The strength of the bouts will be for the trained woman in the background as compared to the ability to perform an active and productive role in the delivery process. Since the brain in most cases can concentrate simultaneously only on one sensation, distraction of attention to other things adds irritants and helps to reduce the impact of fights. Earlier midwives( now called midwives) forced the woman in childbirth to walk around the room and bow to each corner.

Body strain during labor is a natural reaction to the stress of the uterus. Nevertheless, the tension of the body not only causes exhaustion, oxygen starvation and lowers the pain, but also slows down and prolongs the process of childbirth. Adrenaline, which stands out in the closed circle "tension - fear - pain - tension", sharply suppresses the effect of oxytocin and makes the contractions more prolonged and painful. The more you strain during childbirth, the longer they last! And vice versa, the more you relax, the sooner the delivery will end!

The relaxation technique is described in detail in the next article. But it is not enough to read about them, they must be trained daily and stubbornly throughout the entire pregnancy, so that by the time of delivery you will achieve complete automatism.
