Treatment of prostate adenoma
Prostate adenoma is in other words referred to as benign prostatic hyperplasia. This disease is a benign pathological enlargement of the prostate gland, which is located in the circumference of the urethra. Statistics show that almost half of men aged 50 years and older suffer from similar diseases.
It is not uncommon for cases of hypertrophy of prostate tissue under certain circumstances. Such deformations are called adenomas. Medicine offers many tools for the treatment of prostate adenoma, which involve both medication and the use of folk remedies. Such tumors are benign, they increase slowly and do not give metastases. The first symptoms of the disease appear after the growing adenoma begins to squeeze the urethra, which is located in the thickness of the gland, after that it is worth starting treatment for prostate adenoma.
With age, with the growth of prostate tissue, the organ itself increases and, consequently, the urethra becomes narrower, and such changes in the body lead to the following symptoms:
- Difficulty with urination.
- Increased urge to urinate.
- Particularly frequent at night.
- Nervous regulation of the urethra.
- Jet attenuation. This symptom often goes unnoticed. Until more characteristic symptoms appear.
- Sensation of incomplete emptying of the bladder. This symptom is also rarely noticed, since it appears only in the morning hours. Proper treatment of prostate adenoma directly depends on the timeliness of detecting the symptoms of the disease.
- To a doctor, most men are treated only after the manifestation of such a symptom as imperative, difficult-to-urinate urination. Such desires can arise during important meetings and exciting moments.
- With prolonged course of adenoma, urinary incontinence manifests
Each symptom manifests itself in a certain sequence and for a long time the disease can be ignored, since minor single symptoms are often written off for age. To the doctor, patients are treated only with serious complications and several symptoms simultaneously.
Treatment methods
Treatment of prostate adenoma can be performed using three main methods( we will not consider folk remedies).
First and foremost, this is a surgical intervention, bio-electrocancer therapy or drug therapy for prostate adenoma is also possible. The latter method, taking into account the practice, is considered to be the least effective and not widely used. The operation has long been considered the most appropriate and effective method of getting rid of the patient from the problem. However, medications to treat prostate adenoma also in some cases can be effective.
Operative treatment may involve the use of different methods. The most common type of surgical intervention, which has the least contraindications, is adenomectomy or open prostatectomy.
The weight of the adenoma, while, should exceed forty grams, and the amount of residual urine should be more than one hundred and fifty milliliters. If the indicators are lower, it is recommended to use medicines to treat prostate adenoma.
Transurethral resection is becoming more common, as the operation does not imply cutting. In this case, you should pay attention to some restrictions - the weight of the adenoma should not exceed sixty grams, and the residual urine should be in an amount not more than one hundred and fifty grams.
In the presence of renal failure, such treatment methods are undesirable and even contraindicated. With similar indications, as in the previous form of surgical intervention, laser ablation and laser destruction of the prostate are possible. These methods are considered more sparing, because the level of blood loss is minimized, and the allowable mass of the tumor can exceed sixty grams.
The methods considered are very relevant at a young age, when the preservation of sexual function is an important factor that must be observed after the operation. Laser vaporization of the prostate adenoma also has a definite effect. But, as in all cases, laser treatment of prostate adenoma is permissible only in selected cases.
