Useful and medicinal properties of large burdock( burdock)

This is a two-year herbaceous plant, up to 2 m tall with a thick spindle-shaped branched root. Leaves large, lower on long petioles, ovate. Flowers - tubular, red-violet, little protruding from the wrapper of baskets. Fruits are dark brown, spotted. Blossom mug from June to October.
Burdock can be found on wet wastelands, on unprocessed plots of land, along roadsides and in littered places.
The plant has been known for a long time in medicine. Usually the roots of the plant are used, rarely the leaves and seeds. Roots are harvested in autumn or before flowering, dried in the sun or in a well-ventilated room. Large roots are cut into pieces up to 15 cm long.
The leaves are harvested after flowering, cutting them without petioles, and dried under a canopy in the open air.
Burdock roots contain protein and tannin
substances, mucus, resins, stearic and palmitic acids, proteins, polysaccharide inulin. A lot of ascorbic acid was found in the burdock leaves( up to 350 mg%).
Burdock preparations have a diuretic, choleretic, disinfectant, diaphoretic, antitumor effect. They are used inside for diseases of metabolism, rheumatism, gout, cholelithiasis and nephrolithiasis, diabetes mellitus.
Fresh burdock leaves are used for compresses for pain in joints, for mastopathy, as well as for treating long-healing wounds and ulcers.
POULTRY REFRIGERATION: 25 g of ground roots pour 250 ml of boiling water, boil for 20 minutes, drain after cooling. Drink 1 tbsp.l.3-4 times a day.
MAKE FROM ROOT: 1 part of powdered roots pour sunflower or olive oil, insist a day in a warm place, then boil over low heat for 20 minutes. Strain.
THIS LEAF: 1 tbsp.l.crushed and dried raw material pour 200 ml of boiling water. Infuse 2 hours in a warm place, drain. Take 1 tbsp.l.4-6 times a day 1 hour after meals.
Powder of root take on 0,5-1 g 3-4 times a day.

As a healing agent you can use fresh burdock leaves. They are washed and applied to burns, wounds, long-healing ulcers( with diabetic foot).
For furunculosis, various rashes, as well as for scrofula, rickets as a "blood cleanser" drink a decoction of burdock root( 1:10) to 0,6 cups 4-5 times a day.
The same broth is drunk with diseases of the genitourinary system and with chronic constipation.
As a diuretic with edemas take a decoction of seeds 1: 5 to 1 tbsp.l.3-4 times a day.
In diabetes, burdock root is included in the following mixture:
Bean leaves, burdock root, blueberry leaf. All take equal.50 g of mixture from the evening, pour 1 liter of cold water, boil in the morning 5 minutes, infuse 2 hours, drain. Drink 150 g 5 times a day.
For the treatment of benign tumors of the uterus, a powder is used from the root of burdock.5 g of powder, pour 400 g of boiling water and insist in a thermos for 12 hours. Take 100 ml 4 times a day for a month.
In eczema, furunculosis, the affected surfaces are washed with infusion of burdock leaves in a ratio of 1: 5.
Infusion or decoction of burdock roots can be rubbed into the scalp to strengthen the hair.
When bitten by poisonous insects, snakes after sucking venom attach to the site of the bite the crushed leaves of burdock.
Fresh juice of the plant is useful in the treatment of wounds and skin cancer.
Water leaf infusions and decoction of burdock root are used to rinse the throat and mouth.
Boiled and chopped leaves and burdock roots are ground with unsalted butter and used as an ointment against burns.
With stomach cancer, fresh burdock root rubbed on the grater and eat without measure.
With a headache and migraine, fresh burdock leaves are applied to the forehead, occiput and temples.
When itching, allergic skin rashes are useful baths from the decoction of crushed roots and fresh burdock leaves.
Ointment for the treatment of burns and joint disease( VI Karhut):
Fresh burdock root - 2 parts, oak bark - 1 part, calendula flowers - 1 part, walnut leaves - 1 part.
40 g of the collection boil in 250 ml of vegetable oil for 15 minutes on low heat. Then the composition is tightly closed and insisted in a warm oven for 10 hours, squeezed and filtered.
