Group psychotherapy: exercises, method of psychodrama, types of group therapy
Group psychotherapy: exercises aimed at getting out of loneliness and being able to interact with people.
Group psychotherapy is an interpersonal interaction between people aimed at restoring a person's mental balance. The specificity of such treatment is the interaction of people from the group who share their experiences and experiences. Group psychotherapy is not a separate direction, it is only a special form of interpersonal therapeutic contact.
Types of group psychotherapy vary in the number of participants and in terms of human exposure( psychodrama, music therapy and psycho-gymnastics).
Individual psychotherapy is the interaction of one client and therapist, in contrast to the presence of several clients during group therapy.
Some methods were originally developed as a group. For example, psychodrama and sociodrama.
Psychodrama, as a method of group psychotherapy, is used in treatment quite often, as emotional emancipation positively affects the entire body as a whole.
Exercises of group psychotherapy
For a more interesting and qualitative restoration of the mental state of clients, most psychotherapists prefer to use various group psychotherapy exercises:
- Meeting. All participants of the group and the therapist sit down on chairs, located in a circle. The first task is a greeting. If desired, you can voice a fictitious name. After that, each participant can briefly talk about his problem, or rather, about his feelings, which he is experiencing at the moment due to a mental trauma.
- Impression. This exercise begins only after the qualitative final of the previous assignment. The essence of the exercise is the interaction of two separate participants. Two people should sit face-to-face and read out their thoughts aloud, which they have when looking at a neighbor. During the exercise, participants are obliged to look only at each other.
- the Sage. For many people it is quite difficult to realize the goal to which it should strive. And some do not know how to clearly formulate their thoughts and desires. This exercise is aimed at understanding your own thoughts and problems. And also with its help it is possible to reveal the present and false( far-fetched) problems. To do this, participants must close their eyes and try to imagine a tree under which the sage sits, ready to answer any question. Participants need to imagine that they approach the sage, ask a question and receive an answer. Then you need to open your eyes and say your fantastic conversation aloud.
- Body lifting. This exercise is suitable for people who are keenly aware of loneliness. The participant is asked to lie down on the floor and close his eyes. The other members of the group stand around the lying person and slowly raise him. Within a few minutes, people easily shake and gently lower. Closing his eyes, the participant can imagine his dear people.
- Breakthrough. The quietest and lonely participant is invited to become the main participant. The remaining participants, holding hands, form a circle. The main character of the game should try to break into the circle. In the end, you can unite with the circle.
- The last meeting. This exercise is designed to consolidate the result of previous assignments. Participants close their eyes, relax and imagine themselves in a cozy and warm place. You can ponder a little and decide what else you can say to the participants. After that, participants open their eyes and alternately announce their thoughts.
