Perennial herbaceous plant of the legume family with a rod root and numerous lateral branches. Stems are straight, raised, branched, reddish-brown, up to 80 cm high. The lower and middle leaves are triple, upper simple, oval-elliptical. Flowers pink, large, butterfly type, sit two on short pedicels in the axils of the leaves, forming dense spicate inflorescences. Fruits are two-seeded, easily cracked beans. Blossoms in June-August, fruits ripen in July-September.
Distributed in the steppe and forest-steppe zones of the European part of Russia, the Caucasus, Crimea, Southern Siberia. It grows on damp meadows, along the banks of rivers, on the outskirts of swamps. Medicinal raw materials are roots. The active substances in them are flavonoids. In addition, tannins, essential oil, saponins, citric acid are found in the roots. Dig up roots at the end of vegetation, in September-October, cut off the aerial parts, shake off the soil, wash, air-wax, then dry in dryers at a temperature of 40-45 ° C or in well-ventilated rooms. Raw materials are hygroscopic, so it should be stored in a dry place. Finished raw materials are pieces of longitudinally grooved roots, often twisted, with brown knobby bark. On the fracture, the roots are slightly fibrous, yellowish-white or grayish in color. The taste is bitter with a sweet and sweet aftertaste.
In medical practice, the decoction and tincture of the stalk are used to treat hemorrhoids. Roots have hemostatic, diuretic and regulating bowel function. Treatment decoction of the stalk will lead to the elimination of constipation and normalization of the stool, a significant improvement in well-being and the cessation of hemorrhoidal bleeding in the first 7-10 days.
In folk medicine, the stalker's roots are used as a diaphoretic and diuretic. Infusion and decoction of the roots are used for dropsy, kidney stones and bladder, gout and rheumatism. In chronic skin diseases, water extracts are sometimes taken inside as a blood cleanser.
Alcohol tincture( in pharmacies) - 1 tsp 2-3 times a day.
Decoction of roots: 30 g of ground roots are poured into 1 liter of water and boiled until 0.5 liters of decoction is obtained. Then the
filter is ruled and stored in a closed bottle in a cool place. Take 1/4 cup 3 times a day for 2-4 weeks with hemorrhoidal bleeding, to improve well-being and other ailments.
Infusion: 30 grams of stalk for a glass of boiling water, 1 tbsp.spoon 3 times a day with dropsy, kidney stones and bladder and as a diuretic.
Powder: 0.3-0.5 g 3 times a day( effect as in the infusion).
50% tincture: 40-50 drops per reception 3 times a day with hemorrhoids.
