What can save from diabetes?
Avoiding the development of diabetes can use coffee in small quantities daily. According to scientists, this drink contains cafestol - a substance that is responsible for preventing type 2 diabetes. This was proven in the course of research conducted by specialists from the Danish University Clinic.
This preventive effect is based on two compounds that were discovered by scientists. Previously, experts tended to the fact that the prevention of diabetes is associated with the presence of caffeine, but its effect has a short-term effect. In this case, the effect of caffeine is similar to glucose or insulin.
It was also noted that decaffeinated coffee has a similar preventive effect. All this allowed experts to conclude that people who drink several cups a day daily( but not more than four) are better protected from the development of type 2 diabetes, compared to those who do not drink this drink.
The studies were conducted by scientists at the University Clinic of the Danish city of Aarhus. Experts tested the properties of this drink on laboratory rats, in particular, studied the effect on the animal cells of the individual components present in this drink.
The most important in terms of preventing this disease is cafestol, which is able to prevent the development of type 2 diabetes. But in addition to it, other substances that make up the coffee may have a similar effect. Such conclusions were voiced by Soren Gregersen - the creator of this ongoing study.
In the course of the experiment, laboratory animals were taken with tests that were able to detect that under the influence of caffeic acid and cafestol, insulin secretion increased, provided that glucose was added. Another effect of Cafestol was also noted - under the influence of this substance there was an increase in the level of glucose uptake by muscle cells, and this practically corresponded to the action of antidiabetics.
Such pronounced effects with a cafestol make this substance a good preventive agent that can prevent the development of type 2 diabetes. At the same time, scientists do not exclude that this merit belongs not only to the cafestol, it is assumed that other compounds of this drink can have similar properties.
There are other useful properties of coffee, which were previously discovered by scientists. In particular, experts from Harvard University have concluded that regular use of coffee can reduce the likelihood of premature death from neurological and cardiovascular diseases.
