Activity of the district nurse

The main sections of the activities of the district nurse are regulated by the relevant provision approved by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

To this end, the district nurse must:

• conduct antenatal care for pregnant women in their local area, actively identify changes in the state of health of the pregnant woman and promptly report this to the obstetrician-gynecologist of the women's consultation and the district pediatrician;

• Together with the district pediatrician to visit newborns in the first three days after discharge from the maternity hospital, paying attention to the material, household, cultural and hygienic conditions of the family, its psychological climate;

• ensure the systematic observation of healthy and sick children;

• to monitor the performance of medical prescriptions by parents;

• monthly plan and implement preventive vaccinations for children not attending pre-school institutions, invite children to be vaccinated in a clinic;

• assist the doctor in medical examinations of children: conduct anthropometric measurements;to write out certificates, prescriptions, directions, lists of incapacity for work;

• to monitor the order of reception;timely organize medical examinations of children who are on dispensary records, according to the plan of medical examination;

• perform prescribed by the doctor home treatment procedures. A significant proportion in the structure of the activities of the district nurse belongs to the planned sanitary and educational work with members of the child's family. The nurse holds interviews with parents at the pediatric site and at the polyclinic on the development and upbringing of a healthy child and the prevention of diseases. Taking into account the life of the child and the state of his health, the content of patronage and conversations with his parents changes and appropriate literature and visual aids are selected. The effect of health education is strengthened if parents receive special memos on various issues of child development and upbringing. The nurse takes an active part in the organization of health education exhibitions in the polyclinic, the corner of health, in the issue of sanitary bulletins. In addition, it prepares a public health asset on the site, in conjunction with which it implements measures for the prevention of child injuries, raids to verify the cleanliness and sanitary condition of the pediatric area, organizes meetings and conversations with the public with a doctor. The nurse is obliged to systematically improve her qualifications, study best practices in the organization of work of local nurses, apply it in their activities, participate in the work of the council of nurses.

The duties of the district nurses include:

• preventive work for the development and upbringing of a healthy child;the provision of medical care at home as prescribed by the doctor;

• public health education;

• accounting of its activities in accordance with the established form;

• improving their skills.
