The main tasks of the nurse of the ophthalmology department are to perform the diagnostic and medical appointments of the ophthalmologist and help him in organizing ophthalmic care for the population. Appointment and dismissal of the nurse of the ophthalmic department are performed by the chief physician of the medical institution in accordance with the current legislation. The nurse of the ophthalmologic department reports directly to the ophthalmologist, the senior nurse, the department doctor on duty.

II.Obligations of
1. To monitor the timely receipt of research results and paste them into the history of inpatients.
2. Perform the following diagnostic procedures as directed by the physician:
• definition of the field of vision;
• definition of visual acuity;
• selection of the simplest glasses;
• measurement of intraocular pressure;
• examination of the connective membrane and mucous membrane of the upper eyelid, conjunctiva, lacrimal passages;
• determining the sensitivity of the cornea;
• carrying out ophthalmoscopy.
3. Carry out the following medical procedures as directed by the doctor:
• instillation of drops;
• putting eyelids on or lapping eyelids;
• eyewash with medicinal substances;
• "twisting" the eyelids with a glass rod;
• application of mono- and binocular bandages to the eyes;
• Massage the eyelids with a glass rod.
4. Assist the ophthalmologist in performing operations.
5. Participate in conducting sanitary education work among patients.
6. Systematically improve their qualifications.
7. Obtain medical documentation under the supervision of the doctor.
III.Rights
1. To require the administration of the medical institution to create the necessary conditions in the workplace, ensuring the quality performance of their duties.
2. To receive the necessary information for the performance of their functional duties from the ophthalmologist, the senior nurse of the department, the main nurse.
3. Require patients to comply with the internal regulations of the hospital.
4. To master an adjacent specialty.
5. To give instructions and supervise the work of the junior medical staff of the ophthalmology department.
6. To improve their qualification in the established order.
IV.Assessment of work and responsibility
The evaluation of the nurse of the ophthalmology department is carried out by an ophthalmologist, the chief( senior) nurse, on the basis of taking into account the fulfillment of her functional duties, compliance with internal regulations, labor discipline, moral and ethical standards, and social activity. The nurse of the ophthalmology department is responsible for the unclear and untimely execution of all the paragraphs of this instruction. Types of personal responsibility are determined in accordance with applicable law.
