Mixboarder

Mixboard, or a mixed curb, is, on the one hand, a form of curb, on the other hand - an independent type of floral decoration. This is an interesting and complex form of a flower bed of continuous flowering. Mixborder is a strip with a width of 1.5 to 4 m and an arbitrary length, which can be interrupted by passages. It is located along the walls and paths on lawns, near water bodies, by terraces. The outer edges of the mixboard are decorated with flat stones, small tiles, clinker bricks, colored sand in the form of rims, shell rock. This gives the clarity and decorativeness of the composition of flowers, defines the boundaries of the border. The background for the mixboarder can be a house, a hedge of barberry, cotoneaster, acacia, hawthorn, loch, as well as picturesque groups of lilac, jasmine, and viburnum. Mixboarders can have different shapes, not only clear linear but also winding, natural outlines and used for framing water bodies, paths, buildings. The mixboard is created from perennials, two - and annuals, located in the form of picturesque spots. For mixed flower beds of this type, planting of differently flowering plants is necessary - this ensures the continuity of flowering for a long period of time. Spots from the same plants blooming at the same time can be repeated in the form of rhythmic accents at regular intervals. A characteristic feature of the mixed border is that it should be flowering during the spring, summer and autumn, which is achieved by the appropriate selection and combination of different species and varieties of flowering and deciduous plants in height, habitus, maturation and flowering, the shape and color of flowers,inflorescences, leaves and stems. They are planted in the form of small groups, picturesque spots and geometric figures - trapeziums, asymmetric triangles, irregular squares, elongated rectangles.

In order for the mixboard to be decorative throughout the whole season from spring to autumn, it needs constant careful care. Mixborder, of course, is a complex, very spectacular and peculiar kind of floral design, so its creation requires a good artistic taste.

The main difficulty in selecting plants for mixborders is their combination of height, color and flowering time. It is very important that after the blossoming of the plant they do not spoil the general appearance, and even better they should have beautiful foliage or fruits. No less important,so that plants with different attitudes to illumination and moisture do not fall into the mixer berry, only one-, two- and multi-annual combinations can meet these requirements.
