Inflammation of the venous vessels on the legs is a common pathology, especially for females having a much higher number of predisposing factors, from pregnancy to the anomalies of the structure of the venous system and individual differences.

In this externally, the inflammation of the veins on the legs manifests itself in the form of stretched varicose nodules that have a dense consistency. Also, their development is accompanied by blunt, painful sensations that do not subside at night, but increase with mechanical damage or touching the damaged area. In this case, most often varicose veins are observed in the vessels of the superficial venous network, which is a characteristic sign of the disease.

    Surface venous network characteristics

The superficial venous network is connected to the deep venous network through numerous small diameter veins. By means of them, normally the blood flows inward, that is, only a small amount of it leaves the surface vessels. If there is an obstacle in the vessel of the deep system, the blood rushes against the direction of the natural current, causing the prerequisites for the development of varicose veins.

As a result, the superficial veins expand from a large amount of blood, because they do not have the same functionality as the deep ones. At the same time, they do not "help" the muscles that work according to the theory of "peripheral muscle hearts."

This means that the muscles of the lower leg and thigh with a contraction allow you to accelerate the hemodynamics through the veins, which means faster flow of blood. Therefore, the inflammation of the veins on the legs disrupts the outflow of blood at once through two vascular systems - venous and arterial( the arteries are squeezed due to venous hyperemia).

Inflammation of the veins of the lower extremities

All the disease of veins on the legs, characterized by an inflammatory etiology, are divided into two types. These are thrombophlebitis and phlebitis. Their differences consist in the fact of a thrombus formation, because as with a typical phlebitis there is no activation of the blood coagulation system.

However, this is extremely rare, and therefore thrombophlebitis and phlebitis simply pass into each other for the entire period, while there is a presence of venous hyperemia. This is what causes typical problems with the veins on the legs, which are manifested by varicose veins.

Treatment of inflammatory diseases on the legs

Any inflammation of the veins on the legs, the treatment of which is difficult to conduct at home, involves two factors. It is an infection, as well as a thrombus located in the lumen of the vein. This means that not only the outflow of blood is disturbed, but also the vascular wall is damaged.

Therefore, if the vein on the leg is inflamed, then the treatment should provide for the elimination of these factors, that is, include the use of antibiotics against infections, as well as anticoagulants to prevent thrombosis. Complex preparations combining these two effects have not yet been developed, which forces two means to be used.

As the first suitable ointments with antibiotics, for example, erythromycin. It is also appropriate to use antibiotics in capsules, which will achieve a systemic effect.

Anticoagulants are also taken topically and systemically. Locally, you can apply a cream from the veins on your legs, for example, "Lyoton" or a cheaper analogue - a heparin ointment. As a systemic anticoagulant, subcutaneous administration of heparin, warfarin is used.

In case of ineffective conservative pharmacological therapy, surgical treatment is necessary. Its necessity is caused by a high risk of a thrombus getting into the pulmonary artery system. Breaking away from the fixing leg in the vein of the lower limbs, it goes to the lungs, getting the ability to thrombolize the vessel and lead to violations of the systemic functions of the body.
