As already mentioned above - in most apartments the walls are installed under a small, almost inconspicuous slope. But it interferes during the repair, and very much. People buy low-quality construction mixtures and expect that with their help it is possible to level almost any wall, but this is far from the truth, because the market is developing steadily, new construction materials are appearing. In any case, you will have to spend money on buying a mixture of European quality, as domestic producers produce low quality products. Below we will describe a very popular technology, in which plaster profiles are used to level the walls. You will not spend money on the services of plasterers, you can do all the work yourself.

How to level the walls for wallpaper( plaster)

During the repair, you can face different surprises, for example, wallpaper may not be enough because of uneven walls, and the drawing will look very crooked and ugly. Of course, you can try to paste cheap wallpaper, but why waste time if you can immediately check the evenness of the walls and paste high-quality wallpaper?

Before leveling with a mortar, you need to prepare the surface. First, you need to check whether there are crumbling materials that can interfere with repair? Get rid of them, if any. You also need to remove the old wallpaper, and then use the roller and brush to conduct the primer wall. It is advisable to carry out the primer after 20-00 to leave the walls for the night. The primer dries about 12 hours, do not start further work until it dries. Next, you need to install beacons, at the moment it can be done in two ways:

    1. Mark the wall that you'll be stucco, and then drive one nail into the top corner, but leave the cap visible about 3 millimeters. If the wall is too uneven, the hat may protrude even more. After you have installed the first beacon, you need to attach a plumb line to it: attach the nut to the usual thread, this will be the plumb line in this situation. Fasten it to the nail, but do it carefully, so that from the floor to the plumb left a distance of several centimeters. Over time, the plumb line will stop swinging, and from now on it will serve as a standard classical level. Next, hammer another nail inside the wall so that the distance to the floor is about 8 centimeters, and the thread and nail are next. This will be the second beacon.

    2. Now do all the same, but on the other hand. As a result, it turns out that there are four beacons, and even lines in the edges of the wall, which should be oriented. Use the thread, just draw it from the right bottom nail to the top, which is located on the left side. String another thread between them, in the end you will get the threads, located by the cross. Try to pull the thread with a stock, they can easily tear, and the work will have to start anew. Check if the threads are touching the wall that you are going to measure? If there is a weak touch, pull the first nail out of the wall, and then start working on securing the threads from the very beginning. When the threads do not touch the wall surface, you can proceed to the next stage of the work.

    3. Use a long and even stick, and install it near the top and bottom nail, but only about one side of the wall. Then you can begin to prepare the building mix. To put the beacons, you can take the usual plaster, but for this purpose gypsum plaster is better suited. Its advantage is that it dries faster, usually in one hour. Take a spatula and stick the mixture between the stick and the wall, and then wait until it dries. After you remove the stick - you will receive the first lighthouse. Do all the same, but on the other side of the wall, this will be the second beacon. But the evenness of the lighthouses must be checked, necessarily with the help of a building level. Problems can arise if the wall is very long - just in case, install one beacon in the center, just preparing the thread and nails.

There is another way, you can not say that it is simpler than the first, but just in case, we will describe it.

    1. Buy in the building store special beacons, having a thickness of 5 to 10 millimeters. The thickness depends directly on the density of the plaster. If you will apply a very thin layer - use beacons with a thickness of 7 millimeters, if the walls are very crooked, you will need 10 millimeter beacons.

    2. Take a flat board and use it to draw vertical lines from both sides of the wall. Then prepare a little bit of the building mixture, it is advisable to use gypsum plaster. To put it it is necessary exactly on the drawn lines, for drawing you will need a construction spatula. Observe an interval of about 10 centimeters, and do not stack the plaster with too large pieces. The mixture must be very thick, otherwise it will slide down the wall.

    3. And now use the beacon and fasten it exactly to the wall at the places where the mixture is already smeared. Next, take the building level and strongly lean the lighthouse against the wall, but leave a small gap. Clean the excess mix with a spatula that cover the lighthouse. By the same principle, install another beacon. When the mixture dries, it is possible to stretch the thread from the lower right edge to the upper left. You need to make it so that a cross is formed, so stretch from the right upper edge to the bottom left one more thread. Do not forget to check the threads with the wall.

    4. If the walls are long, you need to install one beacon in the center of the wall. Again draw a vertical line. Draw a few threads between the beacons located at the edges - one line from the top, middle and bottom. Install another beacon in the same way as the rest, but monitor the touch of the threads. Do not allow too much tension, otherwise the threads will tear.

    5. When the beacons are installed, you can start applying plaster plaster. Dilute the mixture in a volume of 10 liters, achieve a thick consistency, otherwise it will creep. But do not overdo it, too thick mixture is difficult to apply to the wall. When the mixture is ready, apply it between the beacons on the wall with a spatula. Next, take a stick and attach it to all lighthouses, and then swipe the wall from the bottom up to level the plaster. Often, after alignment, some places remain without plaster, so apply another layer if it does happen. Apply the mixture and level it until you achieve the ideal evenness of the walls. If there are irregularities in the corners - align them with a spatula.

    6. Now you can tackle wallpaper, do not forget that you can save a large amount if you carry out alignment with a standard mix. But in this case you need a putty, otherwise the surface of the wall will be very rough.

How to level the walls with plasterboard

At the moment, in construction is very common material such as gypsum board. It is necessary both for creating multi-level ceilings, and for leveling walls and installing a heater on the walls. Its main advantage is that it is not difficult to install it, besides, a lot of dirt and dust does not appear in the room. This material is not only environmentally friendly, but also fire resistant and very light. Since the moisture resistance of gypsum plasterboard is low, it was made moisture resistant. Therefore, you can install drywall even in the bathroom.

Use this material in neglected cases, when the walls are too crooked, and careful plastering is necessary. But with gypsum cardboard it is possible to achieve a perfectly flat surface, so the walls are installed during the gluing of expensive wallpaper, with a very beautiful pattern.

There are several ways to carry out the installation, at present two methods are widely used: installation of drywall sheets with the help of dry plaster, also called glue, and installation of sheets using a frame made of metal profiles or wooden beams. But before you start the installation, you need to calculate the access to the most important communications, and create several hatches if access is blocked. Do not forget that you can not install gypsum plasterboard walls in rooms where there is a risk of damaging the walls, for example in gyms. If you strike on the wall - the material is deformed, and you will have to carry out repair work.

How to choose the size of drywall sheet? At the moment in the building stores there are sheets of the following sizes: 3000 mm, 2750 mm, 2500 mm, 2000 mm, 1200 mm. The thickness of the sheets is between 8-12 millimeters. In no case do the alignment if the height of the sheets exceeds 3 meters.

Beforehand, check the strength of the wall, there should be no crumbling areas on it. Also, walls should not experience sharp temperature changes, freezing causes deformation of the coating. During preparation, you need to get rid of the remaining solution on the wall, it will not allow the glue to dry normally. Be sure to dry the wall, it should not be wet. If the wall is covered with a hygroscopic compound - perform priming. In the event that you conduct plastering works together with plasterboard, you need to use "wet" plaster.

If you decide to fix gipsokartonnye sheets on the glue, start with cutting each sheet according to the pre-designed dimensions. Remember that you need to leave small gaps, about 10 and 5 millimeters, depending on the place of installation of the sheet. Pre-install all necessary communications so that the sheets do not interfere in the future. Switches and sockets should not interfere, the protrusion from the wall should be 18-20 millimeters.

Gently spread glue, be sure to use the manufacturer's instructions and do not break the ratio of water and mixture. When you have prepared the glue, you can start applying to the surface. Apply glue to one side of the plasterboard, very carefully apply glue to the places where the door and window openings will be. Tightly apply sheets of plasterboard to the wall, for a strong attachment you need to tap on the wall, for example, with a rubber mallet. Do not forget that you can not leave the distance between sheets, be sure to align with the top edge.

If the sheets of drywall are above 3 meters, you need to mount it on a frame, for example, from a metal profile or wood. It is much more difficult to make a frame from a tree, because it is very difficult to make it, moreover, the tree deforms with time. If the tree gets wet, cracks form on the plasterboard. This will provoke the destruction of wallpaper, they will quickly peel off and crack. Do not skimp on metal profiles, they will last much longer. Get the guide and the racking profile, for the work you need a gon and a building level.

The guide profiles are installed in a horizontal position and screwed so that they are parallel to the floor and the floor. The profile is fixed on the ceiling, and then on the floor, but using a plumb. During installation of the rack profiles, a step of approximately 0.5 m should be observed. If the profile is too long, shorten it. To verify the accuracy of the installation, check it with a suspension, and fasten the suspension with a distance of 0.3 to 0.5 m. Secure the gypsum board with screws that are designed for metal, they are black. But do not overdo it, you need to install the screws carefully, otherwise you will damage the material.
