Problems of late pregnancy - pregnancy in adulthood
Until the 90s, pregnancy after 35 years was extremely rare. Today is the fourth part of newly mummies of mature age. The reasons for this late motherhood are quite diverse. Some women want to live for their own pleasure, others solve the issue of material prosperity, while others are engaged in a career. Whatever the reasons, the body ages and menopause is inevitable. What are the problems of late pregnancy waiting for future mothers?
If you delay, you can not have time to
The main problem of the late age is often the difficulty of conception. If at 25 years the percentage of conception is 30%, then after 40 years it decreases to 10%.It happens that fertilization has occurred, but fixing the egg on the wall of the uterus is quite difficult and spontaneous miscarriage occurs.
The second problem of late relatives is the exacerbation of existing diseases. As a rule, many people with age accumulate a decent list of diseases and ailments.
In the period of expectation of the child, they can manifest themselves in all its glory and adversely affect the health of the mother or baby.
Despite not very promising data, a quarter of pregnant women are still women in their prime. And 35 is not the limit. There are women who are preparing to become mothers after 50. In most cases, a woman at this age keeps pregnancy only because the news of the miracle was too late. In anticipation of menopause, the future mother does not know about the conception that has occurred. And the first sign can sometimes be the movements of a well-formed baby.
The risk of a late pregnancy
Pregnant women after 35 are considered to be at risk. But what are the risks? Toxicosis, general malaise, pain and other pregnancy-accompanying symptoms can also be the companions of women and 25 years of age.
And if at the age of 25 complex manifestations requiring hospitalization occur in one of the 15 pregnant women, then after 35 years, every seventh woman needs medical care.
Also, future mothers of this group often have bleeding at different times. Moreover, most often they are caused by hormonal disorders.
After 35 years there is a high probability of twin birth, and this is an additional burden on the body. Multiple pregnancies even at a young age are more difficult and rarely end on time.
Late pregnancy can also have another danger - diabetes of pregnant women. Most often, women are at risk after 35 years. The disease appears at the beginning of the second trimester by a sharp increase in the level of sugar. Side effects can be seizures, a great loss or gain in weight, chest pain, deterioration in overall well-being.
Approximately one-fifth of pregnant maternal age suffers from fibroids.
It is also difficult to receive all the necessary substances by a child. If there are any benign formations, then there is no question of natural delivery.
The advantages of late pregnancy
In addition to problems, pregnancy in adulthood has a number of advantages. The woman is morally prepared for motherhood, listens attentively to the body and, with the slightest change in health, seeks help. It is also noted that such pregnant women are more calm, behave in a balanced manner. Most women for maternity refuse bad habits, do gymnastics and closely monitor food.
Among young people, such "feats" are made by a small percentage of expectant mothers. It is also noted that women under the age of youth, they are pulled up the skin and they look much better than before pregnancy.
Risks for the child
In addition to possible complications of pregnancy during adulthood, there are some risks for the child.
And the older the future mother, the greater the risk. Scientists have not yet found an answer to this pattern. Now the newest methods of diagnosis can reveal chromosomal abnormalities, but most mothers do not agree to terminate their pregnancy and believe that the baby will be born healthy.
In addition to chromosomal abnormalities, there is a risk of other pathologies in the development of the fetus. If they are identified in the early stages, then often the choice is to save or terminate the pregnancy. In the case of minor violations, work is under way to correct them. Perhaps even intrauterine surgery. In some cases, childbirth is awaited and immediately after the child is engaged. To avoid trouble, you must regularly take all the tests and undergo the necessary examination.
The examination can be of two types:
- Invasive( direct). For inspection, tissues are broken and blood from the umbilical cord, amniotic fluid or placenta cells are taken for analysis.
- Not invasive. A pregnant woman is examined and tested.
With some invasive methods, there is a risk of miscarriage or early delivery, so some women refuse to do so.
We give birth on our own or by cesarean?
And the last question that interests many mature mothers: how will delivery take place? Why is it considered to be that a woman in the age of birth is more difficult to bear. In fact, the process is similar, the battles are absolutely the same and have sufficient strength. Disclosure of the cervix is the same as in young women. Why, then, the percentage of cesarean sections is much higher at this age?
In fact, many doctors are reinsured and reduce possible risks.
Pregnancy at this age may be the last chance to feel the happiness of motherhood, and this is understood not only by future mothers, but also by doctors.
