I know a lot of people who, after finishing school at the age of 16 or 18, did not know anything - well, except that they remembered the schedule of lessons and the location of the state of Burkina Faso, and maybe the consequences of repealing the Bread Laws( I personally,and did not understand what was the point in them!) In other words, they owned some kind of information. It is in this function of the school - to give students information. Well, yes, and some other elementary analytical skills like division into columns and grammar rules, most of which are absolutely unnecessary in life. There are, of course, useful information - for example, foreign languages, - however, I repeat, most of it is absolutely useless.
THE FUNCTION OF THE SCHOOL IS GIVING INFORMATION TO THE STUDENTS.
Do not get me wrong. I do not call for the abolition of the school. She teaches us to learn - and this skill, unlike others, is necessary for everyone in life. But the most sad thing is that at school we spend 10-12 years of life, and without getting a variety of really necessary knowledge during this time. At school, you will not be taught to think independently, to change the light bulbs, to believe in yourself, not to get into debt, to feel the maturing conflict, to amicably settle quarrels, treat people with respect, fight fears, deserve to lose, deserve to win. ..
"But inthe school is taught to win and lose, - for sure, now you thought.- After all, the school has sports classes and competitions! "Yes, the school provides an opportunity to experience both victory and defeat, but does not say anything about how to do it well. It is possible that you will lose over and over again, but she will never explain to you what to do and how to deal with it. Be that as it may, what the children are taught in the school can easily be assimilated by them in any other place. Because the main skill acquired in school years - the ability to exist in a team - the children do not learn from the teacher's instructions, but from the practice of communication in the group. Naturally, for this purpose the school collective is not necessary - it can be any group of children. The local branch of some youth movement, a football team, and a circle of young naturalists will also fit in.
Why am I doing this? And to ensure that you understand: the child's education in the school and his education are completely different things. Education is important, but education is many times more important! Teaching your children is the task of the school, but their education is already yours. And do not think that the school teachers will do it for you.
