Actinidia

General information: actinidia is a woody winding liana of tropical forests. Among 36 species of actinidia, the most frost-resistant and vitamin-bearing grow in our country. In the Ussuri taiga, you can find thickets of actinidia colomict, argue, polygam. The taste of the fruit of Actinidia resembles pineapple.

Requirements: actinidia - the plant is dioecious, so it must be taken into account when planting. On 5 female plants it is necessary to plant 1 male.

When growing actinidia, it is necessary to take into account its requirements for air humidity and the surface layer of the soil where the root system is located. In the non-chernozem zone in normal years, moisture is enough. In the arid, watering and mulching are necessary. Preservation of soil moisture around the vines is one of the conditions for the successful culture of these plants in the garden. It is impossible to dig plants( stubble steeps), as in actinidia the roots are located close to the surface of the soil. Fertilizers for actinidia are made depending on the age and capacity of the lianas. On average, on

1 m2 of young plantings 25 g of simple or 10 g double superphosphate, 22 grams of ammonium sulfate or 13 grams of ammonium nitrate and 8 grams of potassium chloride. It is good to bring in bone meal. The first part of the fertilizer is brought in March, the second - in May, the third - in August-September. Actinidia can grow well and bear fruit under penumbra. When boarding, avoid open sunny places.

Ingredients: fruits contain up to 10% of sugars, with glucose predominant, organic acids rich in vitamin C( up to 1400 mg%).

By accumulation of vitamin C with actinidia, only the dog rose can compete 3 to 4 times more than for black currant, 10-13 times more than for citrus fruits. As the berries ripen, the amount of ascorbic acid in them increases, reaching a maximum in the ripened fruit( in the overripe it decreases).The fruits of actinidia are the most rich in vitamin C.Such a high content of vitamin C allows you to use actinidia as a therapeutic and preventive tool for hypovitaminosis and tuberculosis. The average content of P-active substances is small, but even this number is of great importance for increasing the biological activity of ascorbic acid.

Planting: actinidia grows better on well-warmed southern and adjacent slopes protected from cold east and north winds. On the site for this culture a well-lit place with fertile and drained soil is taken away. In spring 3-4 x 2-3 m digging planting holes in the size of 60-80 x 40-50 cm, which fill with fertilized soil from the humus horizon. Planting of 2-3-year-old seedlings is carried out prior to the beginning of sap movement in plants. The depth of planting is the same, on which the seedlings grew in the nursery. Planted plants are abundantly watered, and then mulched with peat or humus. On the site, 1-2 female and 1 male plant are planted.
