Cyanosis blue, or polemonium, is widespread throughout the zones with a cool, and even cold, climate of Europe, Asia and North America. We mainly grow in the forest and forest-steppe zones of the European part of Russia and in the southern part of Siberia. It has a lot of folk local names: "twin grass", "St. John's wort", "cyanosis", "sparrow grass", etc.

The cyanosis has a thick creeping rhizome, so it moves from place to place, but not too quickly. Its erect hollow stems can grow to a height of 40 to 120 cm. At the bottom there is a rosette of petiolate leaves, and on the very stem leaves are pinnate, each of which consists of 17-19 elongated pointed leaves. Flowers, similar to wide-open bells, are collected in a loose paniculate or corymbose inflorescence. The main color is sky blue or dark blue, but white is also found. There is a rare species of blue cyanosis - with mottled leaves and white flowers. Cyanosis has a gentle and pleasant aroma attracting bees. It blossoms quite a long time, in June-July. Seeds ripen in August. They must be collected as soon as the seed boxes grow brown.

Cyanosis is shade-resistant, but it grows better in open areas. Cyanosis is undemanding for soils, but prefers a light, fertile, moderately moist soil of a weakly acid reaction. Hibernates without shelter, because it is frost-resistant. In top dressing does not need. There are practically no pests and diseases.

Propagate the cyanosis by dividing the bush, green cuttings and seeds. Bushes are divided in spring and autumn. On the cuttings in early summer, cut off the tops of young, emerging from the kidneys resumption of shoots, 10-12 cm long, stuck in the soil in the shade and cover with a jar. As soon as the shoot goes into growth, the jar can be removed. At the end of summer, the entrenched stalk is transplanted into place. The planting scheme is 25 x 25 cm. The seeds are sown in the soil immediately after harvesting. Seedlings bloom for the second year after sowing. Cyanuja easily tolerates transplantation in spring and late summer.

Plant a bluish among the bushes, subtrees. It can be planted in mixborders or flower beds, but so that it is covered by other plants, since after flowering the plant loses decorativeness. But if the immediately discolored plants are cut off at the root, the young shoots will quickly grow back and the plant acquires a perfectly good appearance.
