  • Symptoms of vitiligo in the form of spots

    Skin disease of vitiligo occurs among people of different age groups and is manifested by the formation of white spots on the skin. The frequency of the disease is increasing every day, so researchers are constantly interested in it, trying to determine its exact etiology and pathogenesis.

    It is assumed that vitiligo is transmitted by inheritance, but it is impossible to get infected from a sick person. After a number of studies, it was also clarified that the pathogenetic factors of this disease are the neurogenic anomaly.

    I must say that the nature of the skin disease of vitiligo has been studied little. It is known that the basis of its development is a violation of the function of melanocytes, which are located in the thickness of the skin, in the hair and retina of the eyes. Since the causes and the mechanism of development are not completely determined, the problem of effective treatment remains an open question in medical practice.

    The main symptoms of the manifestation of lesions

    This pathology in most cases occurs in two forms:

    • vulgar( generalized) vitiligo - manifests by the formation of a significant number of white spots of different sizes with symmetrical outlines. This form of the disease develops most often. The skin around the eyes, nose, mouth, surface of the joints, especially the elbows and knees, is affected;
    • is segmental - occurs less frequently, manifests at an earlier age than the previous form of the disease, the depigmentation zones are unilateral. The initial stage of the disease of this form is sometimes associated with other autoimmune skin diseases. Pathological foci quickly cover healthy areas of the skin.

    There are also other types of vitiligo - focal, universal and vitiligo with a predominant lesion of the mucous membranes. The acrofacial form can develop. The main symptoms of vitiligo of this form are the predominant lesion of the skin around the eyes, nose, mouth and peripheral parts of the body.

    Cobnerisation can develop - damage to areas of the body that are subject to constant friction( for example, shoulders, neck or waist) with the formation of white spots. By the way vitiligo looks, it is easy to assume the presence of this disease. So, if pink spots appear first, which later become completely depigmented, and the skin around the affected areas remains unchanged, it is possible to suspect precisely this pathology.

    Treatment of vitiligo

    It should be noted that a mandatory preliminary stage of treatment should be the correct diagnosis. Sometimes it is enough to simply examine the patient and irradiate the affected areas with a Wood lamp in order to confirm vitiligo( the spots have a characteristic glow).If necessary, a skin biopsy and a series of blood tests( clinical, biochemical and blood tests for thyroid hormones) are performed.

    How to treat vitiligo, can tell a qualified dermatologist, which should be addressed immediately after the appearance of spots on the skin of an unknown etiology. In most cases, this disease is treated with high doses of ascorbic acid, group B vitamins, copper preparations.

    Common restorative drugs, biogenic stimulants and adaptogenes are also used. Depigmented foci are lubricated with iodine and irradiated with ultraviolet rays.

    From folk methods of therapy should be noted grass duckweed, which is used in the form of infusion for internal reception and for lubrication of pathological foci. The consequences of vitiligo are sunburn, nervous overexertion due to the fact that patients feel uncomfortable in the presence of such skin defects.

    I must say that this disease often disrupts the thyroid gland. In some cases, localized depigmentation of the skin occurs a few months before the appearance of hormonal disorders in the body. Many people underestimate this disease, considering it a mild skin lesion, but it should be remembered that even if vitiligo does not violate the general condition of patients, it requires timely treatment, since it predetermines significant cosmetic defects and stressful conditions that provoke a number of other pathologies.
