We make blinds from the fabric with our own hands using the example of Roman curtains and roller blinds( step-by-step photos are attached)

For many years of history, a lot of variants of curtains and blinds have been invented. And among all this diversity, one can not help distinguishing transitional variants - Roman curtains and roller blinds, which, although they are sewn from the fabric, but at the same time functional as blinds - it is enough to pull the rope to open or close them. And in this lesson we will teach you how to make blinds made of cloth with your own hands.

Roman curtains

Roman blind technology was borrowed from Roman seafarers and resembles the mechanism of the sail - in fact it is a piece of fabric that rises and falls. It is completely straight, without folds, so the fabric needs very little - according to the size of the window. In addition, in the open form, the pattern appears in all its splendor. Given this, you can even afford to choose a quality designer cloth - because the costs are minimal.

Fastening curtains

To correctly calculate the consumption of materials, it is necessary to determine the fastening of the curtains. There are 2 options:

1. The blind is next to the glass. In this case, its size will be equal to the size of the window. This option is chosen when the window sill is actively used or if the curtain is in a duet with curtains.
2. Fastening the curtains to the windows on the outside, if the window sashes open, recline for ventilation. In this case, on each side of the opening, it should protrude by 5-10 cm.

Calculate the fabric and cut

Remove the measurements from the window opening. On the side seams, add 5 cm and 12-15 cm to the allowances on the top and bottom of the curtains. Use the table to calculate the number of folds correctly.

Master class

This master class can easily sew Roman blinds using old blinds.

Materials:

• horizontal blinds;
• fabric of the required size;
• liquid nails;
• fabric adhesive;
• sewing machine;
• scissors.

1. First of all, double twist, carefully iron and stitch the edges on the typewriter.

2. Preparing the blinds. We remove all the details of the connection.

3. We do not touch the central threads, we leave them as they are.

4. We remove the lower limiters and all crossbeams. It turns out like this:

5. On the wrong side, we do the markup. We glue the crossbeams according to the measurements.

6. We fix the frame, we pass the threads of the base of the blinds into the holes of the bars. Do not be frightened if in some places you have to separate the fabric and the crossbeams - this will not destroy the construction.

7. Using liquid nails, we glue the fabric to the substrate.

8. Thread the thread through the holes and fix it with the knot.

9. Hanging tails glued to the wrong side.

10. We decorate the upper crossbar with a cloth: take the cut of the desired size, process the edges and glue.

The Roman blind is ready!

Rolled fabric blinds

Do not confuse roller blinds with Roman blinds - although they look similar, the mechanism of lifting and fastening is completely different: the second ones are assembled with cords by folds, the first ones are wound on a special bar located at the very top of the opening. Manufactured manually, the rollers are heavier at the bottom and stick in the desired position with ribbons.

How to sew blinds from the fabric with your own hands? Compared with tailoring many kinds of curtains, it's very simple! You do not need to calculate the dimensions, suffer from additions, and then remove it for washing very simply. For sewing you will need:

• two cut fabric according to the size of the opening + a few centimeters for the seams;
• tape with Velcro;
• metal tube for weighting;
• furniture stapler;
• wooden rack;
• braid.

1. Cut the fabric pieces together face to face and sew on three sides. We get a bag, which we turn out and we certainly smooth the seams.

2. Inside put the weighting agent, which should be the same size as the width of our curtains. Fix it, paving the top line.

4. The next step is to sew the tape and Velcro. We fold the upper part, we sew the tapes 5 cm from the edge. On top of the tie the contact tape - its soft part.

5. Rigid part of the tape with a furniture stapler is attached to a wooden rack.
