Care of the patient
A sick child is easy to spoil. When a child is seriously ill, you care about him not only for practical medical reasons, but also because you feel sorry for him. You are ready to often prepare him a drink and a meal or postpone what he refuses, and then cook another. That he was calm and happy, you give him new toys. And often in a caring tone ask how he feels.
The child quickly adapts to his new position in the family. If he is naughty because of illness, he will be pushed around by his mother, like a tyrant.
Fortunately, 90 percent of childhood diseases are cured in a few days. When the mother stops worrying, she will stop and please the child if his demands are unreasonable. A few days later, filled with light skirmishes, everything returns to normal.
But if the child is sick for a long time or the disease threatens to return, if the parents easily become anxious, the continuing atmosphere of extreme care can badly affect the child's character. He perceives anxiety and anxiety from others. And he tends to become unnecessarily demanding. If he is too brought up for this, he can become excitable and quick-tempered, like a spoiled actor. It is easy for him to get used to feeling sick and enjoying universal pity. Gradually, he begins to use less and less what he has already learned to do on his own, like a muscle that does not strain for a long time.
Let and be busy. Do not be naughty. Therefore, it is more reasonable for parents to return to normal relations with a sick child as soon as possible. It means such trifles as a calm, friendly face, and not alarming when you go into his room;daily asking about health, you need this tone, as if you do not doubt the good news( and ask not more than once a day). When you know by experience that he likes to eat and drink, cook it and serve it by the way. Do not ask shyly whether he liked it, do not be happy if he ate a little. Do not force the child to eat, unless you are advised by a doctor. Compulsion quickly reduces the appetite of a sick child than in a healthy child.
When he jumps in the crib, ask him to lie still, but do not say that if he jumps, he gets sick more. It is better to talk less with him on this topic and try to occupy something else.
If you buy a new toy, pick one so that he can play independently and that at the same time his imagination( cubes, building sets, sewing, embroidering, stringing beads, drawing, modeling, collecting stamps) worked. These cases can take him for a long time, while ordinary toys quickly get bored and only foment an appetite for new gifts. Give us one new toy. There are many home-based activities, such as cutting pictures from old magazines, albums for gluing, embroidering, planing, building a farm, a city or a dollhouse of cardboard and glue.
If a child has to stay in bed for a long time, but he is not too sick, let the teacher, the tutor or one of the family members teach him lessons every day, as soon as it becomes possible. Like every person, a child wants a society, and we can from time to time participate in his affairs or read to him. But if it requires more and more attention, try to avoid disputes and trade. Let him know the time when he can count on you and when you will be busy. If he has an infectious disease and the doctor allows him to visit him, regularly invite other children to play and eat with him.
It all boils down to letting the child lead a normal life, as much as possible under the circumstances, so that he reasonably behaves toward the rest of the family and to avoid worried conversations, views and thoughts.
