Causes of heart and vascular disease
Coldness can be one of the causes of an increased risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. This conclusion was voiced by Russian and Chinese scientists who gathered in China at a symposium devoted to cardiovascular diseases.
During this event, the latest developments in the field of heart and vascular diseases, as well as related areas were discussed. At the same time, experts agreed that the factor of cold influence on the development of cardiovascular pathology should not be underestimated.
The scientists gathered at the symposium recognized that the climate on the planet is changing, and these changes have an impact on people's health. In particular, it was noted that among residents of the Far East and the Chinese province of Heilongjiang in winter there is an increase in the number of people suffering from coronary heart disease, increased blood pressure, myocardial infarction. The number of people with cardiovascular diseases in these regions is significantly higher than in the more southerly regions.
In Heilongjiang Province, one of the causes of death was cardiovascular disease, which is the leading place here. According to Yang Baofeng, director of the Harbin Medical University, this situation is due to the cold climate, as well as the household and food habits of the population. This highlights the role of high blood pressure in increasing mortality, which can increase the risk of coronary heart disease and apoplexy of the brain.
One of the immediate causes of increased pressure in the region is the excessive consumption of foods high in sodium( with a lack of potassium), fatty and heavy food, alcohol. At the same time, additional risk factors are heredity, age, stress, and a sedentary lifestyle.
Nutritional habits( consumption of large amounts of fatty foods and foods high in sodium) are largely formed under the influence of a cold climate. Examples were given showing how many times higher the consumption of these products in this province compared to the southern ones. In particular, the residents of Heilongjiang Province on fat consumption exceed the norm by 14%, and the salt consumes 122% more. Due to low temperatures, elderly people in this region rarely leave home, so a sedentary image becomes an additional risk factor.
In this regard, the symposium participants decided to intensify educational work with the inhabitants of the cold regions in the direction of maintaining a healthy lifestyle in order to reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular pathology.
