The American scientist from Santa Barbara was the first in the world to create a pill that can replace the execution of injections in diabetes. People suffering from this disease, are forced to regularly make themselves injections of insulin into the stomach. With the new development of the intake of this hormone into the body with diabetes is greatly facilitated, primarily from a psychological point of view. The invention of a new dosage form by the Americans was announced at a meeting of the Association of Pharmacists.

For many years pharmacists failed to make insulin in the form of a tablet form. Therefore, the main problem of the developers was an attempt to create a form that would protect insulin from the corrosive effects of gastric juice and other digestive enzymes.

The new development of American scientists allows not only to deliver this hormone without losses, but also has one more advantage. In particular, by taking the tablet form of insulin, it becomes possible for the patient to gradually reduce the dosage of the drug. This became possible due to the presence in the insulin tablets of special "nanoplasters".They do not allow the tablet to decompose into molecules, as well as to pass unhindered the walls of the intestine and then get into the bloodstream.

This invention is not yet ready for commercial production, it has yet to undergo several clinical trials, including in humans.

Diabetes refers to chronic diseases and is due to the fact that the body lacks the production of an insulin hormone, which is synthesized by the pancreas. Also, this disease can develop due to the fact that the insulin produced by the body can not be fully used, resulting in its excess, which is the reason for the increase in blood glucose levels.

In this case, two types of disease are distinguished. The first type is characterized by the lack of insulin production, and for the second type - its inefficient use by the body, which becomes the reason for its excessive quantity.
