Anatomy of the prostate
The prostate gland is a purely male organ, as specific to men as the womb for women. The prostate surrounds the neck of the bladder, located in the space between the pubic bone and rectum. Its shape and size is similar to a walnut and consists of smooth muscles( muscular part), spongy tissue and tiny ducts and glands( glandular part). Most of its surface is covered with a thin membrane, called a capsule.
In a newborn boy, the prostate has the size of a pea, it continues to grow and by about 20 years has reached the size of an adult's prostate. Further, it does not change its size to 45 years, and then often begins to grow again - but this is not quite a healthy phenomenon, called benign prostatic hyperplasia( BPH), or prostate adenoma. This process is so common that many doctors are gradually inclined to think of it as an inherent feature of the elderly, like gray hair, wrinkles or a decrease in the water content in the tissues of the body. It is possible that previously such a pattern was not detected because of a shorter life expectancy. In more detail about prostate adenoma and the necessary actions of a man associated with its development, we will talk in part 3 of this book.
Prostate is the most "male" organ in the body of a man. It performs four major functions.
The first is the production of prostaglandin E, which is involved in the blood supply of the pelvic organs and is responsible for a full erection.
The second - the development of the secretion of the prostate, maintaining the fertility of sperm and improving its quality. This and the previous functions are performed by the glandular part of the prostate gland.
The third is a separating "control point" that separates the process of urination from the process( and fluids) of ejaculation. The main thing in this is to prevent the seed from throwing into the bladder. The main role in this is played by the muscular part of the prostate.
Fourth - responsibility for the quality of urination: retain urine and ensure its full outflow at the right time. This is also the task of the muscular part of the prostate.
The prostate gland is located in the pelvic area, beneath the bottom of the bladder. It affects the health of both the sexual and urinary system.
