A weaving lesson from paper baskets using tubes from newspapers
Let's take a closer look at the step-by-step lesson on weaving paper for beginners. We will make a basket of newspaper tubes.
Step one - creating tubules
The newspaper is marked on strips 7 cm wide using a ruler and a pencil. Further, on the surface that serves as a lining, the newspaper is cut along the planned lines with the help of a clerical knife. On the needle, located at an angle of 15 degrees with respect to the strip, wind the paper, the edge of the workpiece is fixed with glue. The spokes are removed and the glue is allowed to dry. Next, you should give the received tubes a slightly flattened view, for this you can use a rolling pin. Such a deformation will make the process of weaving easier. If there is a desire, then at this stage you can paint the tubes, or do it when the product is ready.
Step two - weaving the basket
Begin to weave the bottom. For this, we place the tubes on the surface corresponding to the desired basket size. Picture below.
Next, we take another 1 tube and start weaving, passing it under one horizontal, overlapping the second and so on. When the tube ends, it is enlarged, inserting into it another. Having gone so 2 times, leave the tube, take the other and start weaving, but on the other side. After making two rows, leave the tube and take the third.
We continue to weave in the same way, adding new strips, until the bottom of our basket is ready.
After making the bottom, proceed to the sides of the basket. To do this, raise the remaining ends of the tubes and fasten them( Figure 5).The mechanism of weaving the sides of the basket is the same as at the bottom. Having reached the required height of the basket, the excess ends are cut off.
When the basket is ready, you can start decorating it. The basket can simply be painted with paint and varnished, but you can also add other decor elements, such as shells, flowers or ribbons. Finished result on the photo:
