Papier-mache can be created in almost any form, which is used by masters, making their own handicrafts from this incredibly flexible and plastic material. In the article we will consider only one master class, handmade articles from papier-mache you can create both on its basis and fantasize, realizing your unique ideas.

Step 1: Basis of
Most of the work performed successfully depends on the frame, the basis of the product. After all, if it is clearly and correctly carried out, then it remains only to glue it with paper and the product is almost ready. In the role of the framework for the substrate, you can use balloons, paper tape, bags, wire, paper, various waste materials that people usually throw out( for example, a cardboard reel from scotch tape).To create the basis of our sculpture we will use:
- bead;
- narrow adhesive tape;
- food film.
The ball is not inflated too much, so that when forming the "lobes" of the pumpkin, it does not burst - the ball should have a reserve of tension.
With thin tape we create on the pumpkin "lobules".You can increase their convexity at this stage or later, with the help of mass. Or you can leave the ball completely round, because there are such pumpkins.
Before starting to work with papier-mache, the ball can be wrapped with food film, so that later it is easier to remove the ball from the inside. But this stage can also be missed, then with the extraction of the ball, it may be necessary to tinker.
Newspapers for pasting can be cut and clipped. In our case, this is not a matter of principle, because we will still cover the top with mass. We apply 2-3 layers of paper to start. In order not to get confused with the layers, you can use colored paper or glue the pieces in different directions, for example, one layer along, the other - across. After 3 layers, leave the workpiece to dry completely, and then apply 2-3 layers of paper.
After the substrate is completely dry, we get a strong product, which, however, still have to work. Next, we must extract the ball from the inside. To do this, do not glue the ball of the ball, just untie it and the ball will slowly blow away, remaining unscathed. However, you can just pierce it.
It's time to cut your face. Practice first on a piece of paper, and then you can and move the idea to "pumpkin".To create the effect of thick walls, simply glue a wide strip of paper along the contours.
Next we prepare a mass of papier-mache from white paper, glue and paste. We smeared with the mass of the stock, let it dry.
We decided to make a lamp from a pumpkin, but how to fix a light bulb away from the base, after all, do we have a pumpkin paper? To solve the problem, put it on the stump from the pail from the putty, pasted with different pieces of paper to create irregularities. Inside it there will be a basement with a light bulb.
By the way, from the previously prepared mass we get these animals: a wire frame is pasted with paper tape and coated with papier-mâché.
Cut the bottom of a dried pumpkin. Since we will see its "insides", we need to paint it from the inside.
A pumpkin stem can be made from a cylinder from food film or foil. We cut off the required length, smeared with an adhesive mass, creating a shape, stacking the grooves of the stem. We attach to the pumpkin all the same mass, you can additionally smear PVA.
Step 2: Decoration
From plastic we make the teeth for the pumpkin, wait until they are stiff.
We fix teeth with transparent glue for skirtings and baguettes. Later with the same glue, you can also fix the eyeballs of pumpkin. The result of the "visit to the dentist" on the photo:
Pumpkin lips add volume.
We paint the stump-stand, we finish the pumpkin itself, increasing the volume of the "lobules".
We are waiting for complete drying, we paint, we cover with acrylic lacquer.
Pumpkin is almost ready, you can decorate it with thematic drawings in decoupage technique. After that, you need to again cover the product with acrylic lacquer.
This pumpkin will be a wonderful thematic decoration for both the house and the garden in Halloween, and the children will surely be delighted.
