Emergency first-aid kit of the dental office
Emergency first-aid kit of the dental office is designed to protect medical personnel against infection with various diseases when they enter the body of biological fluids.
The first aid kit should include:
• 70% ethanol solution;
• 5% alcohol solution of iodine;
• weights with powder of potassium permanganate-five weighed portions;
• distilled water;
• a glass rod;
• 30% solution of albucid( protargol);
• pipettes;
• 20 g syringe;
• gauze balls;
• Bandages;
• fingertips;
• gloves.
If the patient's biological fluids have got on the surface of the eye mucosa, it is necessary to take one drop of potassium permanganate powder from the emergency medicine cabinet, dissolve it in 0.5 l of distilled water and treat this with the mucous membrane of the eyes. It is also possible to use for this purpose a solution of albucid or protargol.
If the patient's biological fluids have got on the nasal mucosa, it is necessary to take one sample of potassium permanganate powder from the emergency medicine cabinet and dissolve it in 100 ml of distilled water. The resulting solution should be treated with the nasal mucosa. After this, it is necessary to treat the oral cavity with a solution of 70% ethyl alcohol.
If biological fluids have fallen into their hands, they must be treated with a 70% solution of ethyl alcohol.
If the patient's biological fluids have got on the damaged surface of the skin, if the skin is damaged during skin manipulation and the biological fluids of the patient, especially blood, get into the wound, it is necessary:
• squeeze blood from the wound three times;
• treat the wound with a 70% solution of ethyl alcohol;
• Wash the wound twice with soap and water;
• treat wound with 5% alcohol solution of iodine;
• isolate the wound surface with a plaster, fingertip, gloves;
• Record what happened in the alarm log;
• inform the head physician of the dental clinic;
• contact the AIDS Center for blood sampling for research and prescribing a preventive course of treatment. After 3, 6, 9, 12 months, it is necessary to re-enter the AIDS center for blood donation and its research.
