Decorating cakes with mastic at home( with photo and video)
Decoration of cakes is a whole art, not inferior to either sculpture or painting, but incorporating something from the above. Original cake decorated with mastic will not only serve as a great gift or treat, but will also hold your gaze until it is eaten. However, many housewives and owners believe that such culinary delights are the lot of professionals who graduated from the respective universities or, at least, technical schools. But in this master class we will show that they are wrong, because cope with the original decoration of the cake under everyone's power, if you put a little patience and effort. We will show how to decorate the cake with mastic at home, and how to make a delicious treat! Yes-yes, you have correctly understood: the best gift for a man has also become sweet. At the end of the workshop you will learn how to make this book( or rather a very thick diary):
Ingredients:
- Mastic( red-brown and chocolate-brown, white).
- Foil.
- Kandurin( special food coloring).
- Cake, which will be "pasted" the cover( of course, it should be at least cubic, because there are no round books in nature).Also the cake should already be lined with the help of some oil cream or ganache.
Proceed as follows:
1. Prepare the desired mastic( on the Internet, a lot of recipes, choose the one that you like) and paint the appropriate food color( or cook using chocolate).
2. Roll the mastic into a sheet, 3 millimeters thick, 2 centimeters in height, and one centimeter wider than the size of the cake.
3. We give the texture of the skin with foil. We roll the foil and gently squeeze her mastic. Just do not tear the cover, because to give the old book is not always befitting!
4. We get the workpiece, which must be dried for at least 24 hours.
5. When the cover has dried, we will probably go to the most difficult part - its design. Cut out a thin layer of mastic and paste on the main part of the cover. Cut and paste letters to it. From above, we will squeeze out the name of the birthday man( since the book is a gift).On the right, with a needle, we gently scratch the pen and curls on the main part.
6. We glue on the curls thin mug flagellum.
Now the book must be "gilded".For these purposes we take candurin, mix with vodka and color the details. Vodka will quickly erode, so this cake can be given even to children.
7. It's time for the cake. We get the cooked and leveled cake, it should be about the same smooth as in the photo:
8. We lay the cover. The left edge of the cover must match the edge of the cake. On the right, above and below the edge should protrude by one centimeter. Roll out the red-brown mastic into strips one centimeter wide and glue them on three sides to the bottom of the cover.
9. Take a strip of white mastic and roll it out. The width of the strip will be equal to the height of the book, and the length to two values of the width of the cake plus its length.
10. We stick the strip.
11. Draw the leaves. In the master class a special tool is used, but you can use a toothpick or fork.
12. Take the back of the book, and, as in the case of the cover, we make the texture foil.
13. Glue the cover and to it - two bows.
14. Close the joints with a thin strip of mastic.
15. From above and from below we make filament weaving of the binding( again from white mastic).
16. The book is ready! You did not need a university education and courses to cook it, right?
