Day-lily
Description. It is believed that its name was given to the flower for its resemblance to the lily, the plant also has the names of haemorocallis and krasnodnev. Daylily is a perennial herbaceous rhizome with long lasting decorative features with an extraordinary richness of colors and flowering. Beautiful, visibly curved, narrow, low-lying surface leaves drooping to the ground form a powerful bush in various species up to 1 m high, resembling a fountain stream, hitting from one point - from the base of the bush, decorative to frost. The plant throws out high, sometimes branched, peduncles in the upper part. The lilynites have beautiful large cone-shaped flowers on sturdy peduncles, similar to lily flowers. Each flower is opened only 1 day, for which the daylily in the people received its second name - krasnodnev. But sometimes the flowers live longer, especially in cloudy weather at low temperatures. The flowers are large, yellow and orange in the long-established natural species and pink, red, white and other shades - in the varieties of the daylily hybrid. Daylilies blossom from spring to autumn.
Thanks to the extraordinary variety of colors, the richness of the color range and the shapes of the
shrubs, different bloom times, it is possible to combine the daylily with any kinds of ornamental plants in a variety of combinations and types of decorative flower arrangements. Daylilies are used in group and single plantings, on the lawn, near the water, next to decorative bushes and trees, in rockeries. Very interesting is the garden, created from some daylilies, in which the species are selected according to height, flowering time and color. Natural species and garden forms and varieties of the daylily hybrid are widespread.
Garden hybrids of the daylily are represented by more than 80 varieties, mainly American and German selection, many varieties are masterpieces of selection work.

The daylily hybrid is a hybrid garden hybrids derived from the crosses of various species and hybrids of the daylily, primarily the yellow daylings, Middendorf, Tunberga, and others. Hybrid lilies are abundant and continuously blooming. A well-developed plant can have 20 or more peduncles with a total of pure flowers from 100 to 200. The number of flowers depends on selling the blossoming of the plant, as the flowers unfold successively, one by one. The color of the flowers of the hybrid daylily ranges from light yellow, almost white to dark wine-red with all possible shades of orange, pink, lilac and lilac tones.
Cultivation and care. Daylily is considered to be one of the most undemanding ornamental garden crops, if only because it can grow in one place without a transplant for more than 10 years. Daylilies form powerful bushes, which eventually can be joined by foliage, which almost completely eliminates the growth of weeds under them and makes weeding unnecessary. Daylily - one of the most malotrebovatelnyh perennials. It has a powerful root system and a large shoot-forming ability.
For the cultivation of daylilies use sites with heavy, well-humified, deeply treated soil. Foundries are characterized by a strong intake of nutrients, so they are demanding of their presence in the soil. Daylilies are winter-hardy, drought-resistant, light-loving, but bear a slight shading, while bloom weaker. Liliae withstand a lack of moisture, but then they lag behind in growth, form less flowers and grow smaller.
In the culture, the lily-bush is often propagated by dividing the bush, as the seeds are tied badly, and the seedlings develop extremely slowly. The best time for dividing the bush and transplants is spring, the first half of May. Daylilies are planted at a distance of not less than 50-60 cm from each other.
The root collar is positioned at the soil level. After planting, the plants are watered. During the spring regrowth 1-2 nitrogen fertilization is carried out. During budding and flowering, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are introduced. After flowering, the dressing is repeated to promote the active formation of flower buds.
When introducing fertilizing, the daylilies are prevented from getting fertilizers on them, after which the plants are heavily watered. The old strong daylilies quickly deplete the soil and therefore need intensified fertilizing. The rhizome of the daylily grows upward, so the soil around them needs to be mulched, periodically pouring in fertile soil. Under winter mulching peat, especially the young and old landings.
