Useful and medicinal properties of the bandage
The individual dressing bag is wrapped in parchment paper and covered with a rubberized cloth on top. It includes two cotton-gauze pads, one of which is fixed, and the second with the help of gauze clutch can move along the bandage. To apply the dressing, you need to tear off the strip from the rubberized fabric, carefully unfold the paper shell, remove the pin from the fold, without touching the inner surface of the cotton-gauze pillows, lay them on the damaged areas and tightly fix the gauze bandage, the end of which should be attached to the bandage with a pin.
A small wound is closed with one cushion, on which the second one is applied.
With a large wound, the pads are applied to each other, covering the entire surface of the wound. When applying a pressure bandage, you must adhere to the general rules of bandaging, which are as follows.
The victim must be given a comfortable position, in which he feels the least pain. For the period of preparation of the dressing material, the damaged limb rises above the body level, which helps to reduce blood flow to the limb and reduce the force of bleeding. In the process of applying the bandage, one must see the patient's face and make sure that the bandage does not hurt him.
The bandage arm or leg is fixed in the position in which they will remain after applying the bandage. So, the arm is usually bent at right angles to the elbow joint, and the leg is bandaged slightly bent at the knee joint, while the foot is always fixed in the position under the straight line.
The first aid person must face the victim, keep the beginning of the bandage in his left hand, and his main part( head) - in the right. Bandaging is carried out with two hands: the left arm usually holds the bandage and straightens the bandage tours, and the right one unfolds the head of the bandage from left to right.
Binding starts from the bottom. Bandage gradually, round by round, leads upwards, and so that at each next round the previous 1/2 or 2/3 of the bandage is covered. Finish bandaging 3-4 roundabouts above the wound site.
An important condition for applying a bandage is a good fixation of the bandage. It should not slide while moving, and at the same time the dressing should be applied with such a degree of fixation that it does not lead to excessive compression of the tissues. In the place where the bandage fin is thickened or thinned, so that the bandage is dense without forming pockets, it is turned inside out as if inside out every second turn, thus achieving a more firm fit to the limb. The end of the bandage is fixed with a pin or after cutting the end of the bandage along the length both formed bands are tying on the bandage with a knot. The pressure bandage is usually circular, in which all the bandage tours calmly fit into the same place.
As a dressing material, in the absence of a bandage or dressing bag, a clean cloth fabric( cut strips of sheets, other bed linens, etc.) can be used. She tightly bandages the damaged area of the body, after putting a folded several times a flap of gauze or freshly ironed linen, and over it - a layer of cotton wool.
When applying a bandage, the injured person should lie if there is severe pain, dizziness, or sitting, but not standing. Otherwise, there may be dizziness and even loss of consciousness in response to increased pain, falling and injury to the patient.
In certain cases a bandage dressing can be used, especially when injuries and wounds are localized on the head, in the perineal region, buttock, elbow joint. The medical scarf, as a rule, is made of gauze or cotton fabric, has a triangular shape with the dimensions necessary for specific purposes. Variants of dressing bandages are presented in the figures. The bandage bandage is superimposed most simply and quickly, but it is not strong. However, in the provision of first aid in many cases, it can be given preference.
For bandaging the nose, chin, forehead and occiput area it is convenient to use a bandage, torn along the length on both sides and whole in the middle. This is the so-called sling dressing, which is imposed in cases where bandage bandages, even with a large bandage consumption, do not provide reliable fixation.
For small wounds, furuncles, abrasions and other minor skin damages apply adhesive bandages and stickers, when no significant blotting of the dressings is expected and the dressing material is applied with a thin layer. Adhesive tapes in the form of tapes are glued transversely or crosswise, leaving part of the surface of the dressing open.
With very small bandages on the area, the adhesive plaster is cut out in the form of a mug or an asterisk.
