Shock Techniques in Massage
Physiological influence. The impact technique is characterized by a sharp mechanical effect on the fabric. Admission worsens microcirculation of massaged areas, causes spasm of venous vessels and increases venous pressure.
All forms of administration have a pronounced effect on the peripheral and central nervous system. With vigorous and rapid carrying out shock techniques are tonifyingly acting on the cerebral cortex and neuromuscular apparatus and are often used only for this purpose. With various pathological processes, they help to reduce and even stop pain, and in this connection can be used as a "distracting" remedy for the massage of tissues located next to the painful areas.

Shock techniques also affect internal organs. So, with the pocking of the chest, there is a decrease in the pulse rate, blood pressure, and other changes are possible.
Variety of reception: 1) effleurage;2) patting;3) ruble.
Technique of execution. Fingering is produced by the fist and fingers. Fingering with the fist: the brushes are relaxed, half-compressed into a fist and placed in the middle position between the supination and pronation, that is, the shock, the massaging surface should be the area of the short flexor of the little finger. Beveling is performed due to rapid alternating movements in the wrist joints and elbow joints, the distance between the hands is 2-4 cm( Figure 29).

Fingering with fingers is performed by the relaxed brushes due to movements in the wrist joints alternately, at the maximum rate, the fingers are closed or slightly apart, they can rest on the massaged area with the palms' bases, the blow falls on the pads of the fingers( Figure 30).
Slapping. The brush can take two forms. The first - fingers II to V tightly closed and half-bent in the metacarpophalangeal joints, I finger is pressed to the middle phalanx of the 2nd finger( the shape of the ladle as when scooping water with the palm).The impact is applied by the pads of the fingers and the base of the palm( Figure 31).It is used mainly on large areas of the body( back, thigh).The second - the fingers are bent so that the impact is applied to the back surface of the distal phalanges of the fingers and the base of the palm. I finger is pressed to the middle phalanx of the second finger( Figure 32).
Patches are performed alternately with both relaxed brushes due to rapid movements in the wrist and partially elbow joints, the distance between the brushes is 2-4 cm.

When cutting IV - V with fingers, they should be slightly extended, relaxed and raised above the massaged area by 8-12 cm. If in this position the hands are lowered due to movements only in the wrist joints( lead), then with the massaged surfacethe lateral part of the V finger pad first touches, then the IV finger, the others should not have contact with the skin of the massaged area( Figure 34).
Chopping. This method is performed in two versions. When cutting the with the elbow edge of the , the hands are set in the position between the supination and pronation, the fingers are straightened and relaxed. The blow is made by the edges of the hand from the V fingers, the movements are alternating, the distance between the brushes is 2-4 cm( Figure 33).

When carrying out all types of shock techniques, the brushes should also be as relaxed as possible, movements in the wrist joint are completely free. The tension in the hand joints and the increase in the number of levers participating in the reception( for example, the shoulder) increase the impact force.
First you should practice on the roller, and then perform the reception on a massed one. The masseuse can press his shoulders against the trunk to turn off the shoulder joints from the movement.
It is not recommended to perform pinching on the neck, in the area of the kidneys, waist and joints.
The most common errors:
1) stress and enslavement of the wrist in the wrist joints;
2) inability to quickly perform the reception( less than 4-6 beats per second);
3) discoordination of movements - the masseur instead of alternating starts to apply simultaneous strokes on the body of the massaged;
4) the distance between the massaging brushes is more than 2-4 cm;
5) performance of reception due to movements in the elbow and even shoulder joints.
