You return home
If the childbirth and the postpartum period were normal, you will be able to return home on the fifth day after delivery, after cesarean section - on the seventh to the eighth. An extract from the hospital after treatment for complications will depend only on the state of your health.
Returning home, try to rest as much as possible, at least 10 days or more, because most of the young mothers feel tired and exhausted. Unfortunately, it is believed that a woman is created for homework, used to it since childhood and therefore should not get tired. But now you will not do the usual homework - it can not be planned, because you are completely dependent on the well-being and mood of the child. Closing your eyes, you do not know exactly how many hours you will be able to sleep. Wiping the diapers, do not know how quickly they will be wasted. When preparing a dinner, you do not know how the baby's intestines will react to the foods you eat, what you can eat fearlessly, and what is better to refuse. Nothing, if in the household for a while not everything will be perfect. Remember: the better you relax after giving birth, the faster you can return to active life. And do not try to deceive nature: the body will need 6 weeks to regain its former condition, and about 2 months to fully regain strength. During this time, try not to overwork, do not climb often up the stairs, do not wear weights, rest after dinner. You say it's impossible? Perhaps, if someone will help you in the first 2 weeks after birth - mother, mother-in-law, girlfriend, neighbor, etc. Of course, the most ideal option if your husband could take a vacation for this time.
After birth, you can not bathe in the bath for at least a month. The shower is allowed, so you can take it whenever you want. Remember the toilet of the external genitalia, it is necessary for another 2 weeks, this is especially important if there were stitches on the perineum.
You will spend a lot of time taking care of your baby and taking care of your breasts. To feed the baby you need every 3 hours, and maybe more often, depending on his needs. On the 5th-7th day, when you are already at home, a lot of milk comes, the breast can increase dramatically;If, after feeding the child, the feeling of filling and lengthening of the breast goes away, then everything is in order. If the breast remains full, the milk should be expressed to the sensation of devastation, but not to the last drop - excessive expression of milk will lead to an even greater tide. Later, when you and the child adjust to each other, you do not need to express, the breast will not burst to an alarming size - the baby is growing, its needs are increasing.
When the first 2-3 weeks after delivery take place, pumping will be required only in special cases:
- if the mother has a tight chest with a flat nipple, which the child is difficult to capture. In this situation it is necessary to express a few streams of milk, then the baby will be easier to grab the nipple;
- if the baby was born weakened or prematurely and can not suck up enough milk. In this case, it must be supplemented with expressed milk;
- with a tendency of the mother's body to blockage of the ducts and the formation of lactostasis( in the gland dense painful areas are formed).In this situation, all the lobes of the breast must be carefully emptied and the normal outflow of milk restored to avoid mastitis;
- if necessary, go somewhere, leaving a baby bottle with expressed milk for the baby.
It is preferable to express the chest with your hands, but you can also use a breast pump. In particularly difficult cases, the assistance of medical personnel will be required. In order to preserve milk and continue to feed the baby, it is important to protect the nipples from cracks. If they have appeared, treatment is necessary: after feeding, the nipples can be treated with a decoction of chamomile or calendula, then smeared with Kalanchoe juice or rose hips, sea buckthorn. In the intervals between the feeds, try to keep the nipples in the air. Too often, you do not need to wash your breasts, but do not leave dried milk on it. Before feeding the nipple, wash with boiled water. If you can avoid milk stagnation( lactostasis) and nipple cracks, find time to rest and sleep, then you can feed your baby for as long as you want.
