Mallow

Another name for mallow is a mallow. Males are annuals and perennials. Gardeners sometimes confuse mallow with an althaea pink, which is often called shtokrosa. Perennial mallow have erect stems and form sprawling bushes. Throughout the stalk there are simple flowers with six petals about 4-5 cm in diameter. In June and July a white mallow blossoms with strongly dissected leaves. The bush rarely reaches a height of 90-100 cm, usually its height is 70-80 cm. In the midst of flowering, it is literally strewn with snow-white flowers, similar to the flowers of the lava. Gardeners call white mallow a "bride".Later, in July-August, another species of perennial mallow grows. High, 150-200 cm, the stems are decorated with beautiful large leaves and tender pink flowers of the same shape as the white mallow.

Malva prefer a sunny place( although they tolerate penumbra) and fertile soil with a neutral or slightly acidic reaction( pH 5-6).Sour and dense soil does not like plants. They are sufficiently hygrophilous, therefore in a dry and hot weather plants should be watered. If you feed them a little in the spring with a full mineral fertilizer or just infusion of weeds, and before flowering you throw a handful of superphosphate, they will thank you with a magnificent and long flowering. Of course, to remove such a number of blossoming flowers is a laborious task, but it substantially prolongs the flowering of the bush. You can, of course, propagate by dividing the bush, early spring or late summer, but it is much easier to propagate them with seeds that are sown in May directly into the soil in place. Shoots thin out. Adult seedlings are planted according to the scheme of 50 x 50 cm or plant extra.

Pests and diseases tend to bypass the mallow side.

For decorative decoration mallow is used in mixborders and group plantings.
