Thin children
Thinness arises for different reasons. Some children got leanness for inheritance. Their ancestors from one side or another were thin. They from the earliest childhood offer abundant and varied food. They are not sick or nervous. They just never eat much, especially high-calorie foods.
Some children are thin , because they have lost the appetite because of excessive parental perseverance. Older children may not eat for other reasons related to the nervous state. A child who fears monsters, or death, or that his mother throws him, can lose his appetite. Jealous younger sister, who is straining all day to be on par with the elder, spends a lot of energy and does not find peace even at meals. As you can see, two reasons cause the thinness of a nervous child. His appetite worsens, but at the same time he spends more energy.
There are many children in the world who are thin, because parents can not provide them with enough food. There are chronic diseases that cause poor digestion of food. But a child who has lost weight as a result of illness, quickly recovers when he begins to recover, if he is not forced to eat forcibly.
Caring for a thin child. A thin child, of course, must see the doctor. This is especially important if the child seems tired, or if he loses weight, or if he does not gain it at a sufficient pace.
The finer, weight loss or inability to dial is more often explained not by physical, but by emotional troubles. If your child is nervous or is depressed, consult a private child psychiatrist or child psychiatric clinic. Talk about it with the school teacher of the child. In any case, it is reasonable to think about the relationship of the child with parents, brothers, sisters, friends and school. If you abuse the child because of poor appetite, stop doing it.
If a child never eats a lot, but is willing to eat little and often, help "snacks" between regular meals.
A healthy child can remain thin, despite a good appetite, and so, apparently, it should be. In many such cases, the child prefers low-calorie foods like meat, vegetables and fruits, and shies away from hearty desserts. But some of these children, although they refuse to eat well, like cream and butter. You can try to replace the milk in the porridge at first with diluted, then whole cream and add the cream to the soup. You can put more oil in vegetables and bread. These changes need to be introduced gradually, because the digestive system needs time to adjust to more fat. Do not introduce these changes if the child objects: you can only deprive him of his appetite.
Sometimes adding cream and butter to the diet of a child with a poor appetite can increase its weight, but not always. The trouble is that this additive further reduces the appetite.
Finally, if your child is not sick at all, if he is thin from the very childhood, if he is gaining weight normally, calm down and leave him alone. He was born this way.
Additional rest. If a small child is losing weight, he shows tension, if he gets tired faster than usual, the doctor can recommend for a month or two additional rest.
What calms one child, the other leads into arousal, so the rest program needs to be developed individually. A child of school age will resist any program that makes him different from others.
You can organize your life in such a way so that after dinner a child can spend time quietly: he watched TV, listened to radio or fairy-tale, read, he would do something with his father.
If a child is preschool, you can immediately put him to bed immediately after dinner. If you imagine it is not punishment, but encouragement, the child is able to rejoice in it - at least a few weeks. Even if he jumps out of bed from time to time, he still rests. If you have time, read to him after dinner to keep in bed.
Another option for a small child is to stay in bed before breakfast and maybe even an hour later. Or you can combine it with dinner in bed.
A child who does not need to go to school in the afternoon and who just fidgets, if forced to lie down, may agree to sit at home for an hour, quietly playing, or helping his mother at work around the house, or looking after the baby.
