    Gas hobs

Kitchen stoves are distinguished by the type of assembly: monobloc or built-in. In the built-in cooktops, the hob and oven are separate, which allows you to combine different types of appliances( for example, an electric surface and a gas oven). We will understand what types of cooking surfaces exist, their pros and cons.

The gas hob, as the name suggests, works on gas. This is the most common type of cooking surfaces, as in use it uses only gas, which is the cheapest of all proposed fuel options. For operation, it is necessary to connect to the gas network or to LPG cylinders. The second option is ideal for the use of gas stoves in a country house, in which there is not always enough access to the gas pipeline. When choosing a gas panel, you should pay attention to the number of burners, the type of working surface, the availability of useful additions, such as the system "Gas control" and electric ignition.

The number and type of hotplates directly affects the number of dishes simultaneously used on the cooker and the dimensions of the surface. The most common type of panel is a 4-burner, when two central, one small and one high power burners are placed on the surface. In modern plates, some burners are equipped with a double or even a triple flame ring, which allows you to adjust the temperature and cooking time. Well, in the conditions of small kitchens, it is hardly appropriate to have a panel with desto cookers.

The type of the hob is determined by your taste. In total there are three of them: enamel surface, stainless steel surface and glass ceramics. Enamelled surfaces, scandalously known to us from advertising cleaners, are the cheapest and quite durable. But at the same time, they are difficult to clean from traces of unsuccessful cooking( for example, escaped milk), and eventually, they inevitably get covered with a lot of scratches. The surface of stainless steel is very popular due to its simplicity in maintenance: they are durable and easy to clean. Glass-ceramic surfaces are the most expensive, but at the same time the most stylish, easy to clean, have a long shelf life. Regardless of the type of surface, it is recommended to clean its surface after each use of the plate.

We all know how sometimes it's problematic to light a burner from matches. Probably, therefore, almost all modern gas surfaces are equipped with an electric ignition. A piezoelectric element is installed under the burner, which, when the button is pressed, starts a spark and ignites the gas. In some models, the electric ignition is activated automatically when the control knob is turned. The only drawback of this system is the need to connect the plate to the power source.

The "Gas control" system allows you to block the gas supply at unexpected damping. There are many cases when a liquid poured from a pan, poured a burner, which often led to explosions. Therefore, in many countries, the "Gas control" system is an integral part of any gas cooker.

The advantages of gas hobs are:
    • Fast surface heating, which shortens the cooking time
    • Independence of the type of dishes, its surface
    • Easy to clean and prepare
    • Relatively cheap fuel

Among the shortcomings it should be noted:
    • High, despite all the precautions, danger of gas explosion
    • During operation, carbon dioxide is released, which makes it impossible to use the gas surface in unventilated rooms.

. Overall, the gas cooker isa great option for most cuisines. Relatively inexpensive and easy to use, it rightfully ranks first among the rest. But when using such a plate, do not forget about safety. The kitchen must always be ventilated. After working with the plate, it is necessary to shut off the gas supply valve. And of course, protect children from hot surfaces.

    Electric hob

The electric hob is a modern competitor to a gas stove. Although the electrical panels themselves appeared relatively recently( 100 years ago), the idea of cooking on the scorching surface belongs to our ancestors: recall how they used to prepare eggs on stones. The idea remained, but the materials changed: instead of fire, an electric current was used, and the stone was replaced with high-tech glass-ceramics.

There are two types of electric cookers: with open cast iron burners and glass-ceramic surface. The first type visually resembles a gas stove, with the difference that there is no gas in it. The dishes are placed on the surface of the burner, under which the coil is located. The coil transmits electric current, the coil heats up and transfers heat to the burner. Such plates have a big drawback: they heat up and cool down for a long time. In glass-ceramic surfaces several methods of surface heating are used: a coil with high resistance, a tape method( Hi-Light), halogen and induction.

The tape( Hi-Light) method is similar to the coil method, with the difference that instead of a coil a ribbon is used that is located on the entire plane of the heating surface. This allows the surface to heat up more quickly. The halogen method uses tubes filled with gas, and allows rapid heating and cooling of the burner. The induction method is the most fantastic: it, like a heating surface, uses the bottom of the dish itself, while leaving the entire surrounding surface cold. But for this type of plates requires special dishes with a magnetized bottom: cast iron or steel.

It should be noted that the electrical panels are very sensitive to the type of bottom of the used dishes. Do not use dishes with a thin bottom or low-melting metals. They can not use utensils with a convex, deformed bottom, because of the placement of dishes directly on the burner itself, and not on a supporting grate, as in gas stoves. This, in turn, requires careful treatment of the surface, becauseany dishes can leave scratches. An important point is also the size of the dishes. The diameter of the saucepan should approximately equal the diameter of the burner. Otherwise, the burner will wear out more quickly, which will inevitably lead to breakage.

Electric stoves are considered to be the safest. Do not contact with flammable gas. But do not forget that any stove during work emits a huge amount of heat, which can also cause fires. During operation, electrical surfaces require huge energy costs, which in turn can lead to the ignition of electrical wiring. On the plates, with a metal casing, grounding is necessary.

The positive qualities of the electric cookers are:
    • Operation does not require connection to the gas network
    • No danger of gas explosion( does not apply to tenants of apartment buildings where neighbors use gas stoves)
    • Does not emit carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide

Among the negative ones it is worth highlighting:
    • Strongdependence on electricity
    • Low speed of heating of burners in some types of plates
    • Restrictions on types of utensils used
    • Risk of ignition of wiring
    • HighThe total cost of electricity

After you have decided on the type of hob, proceed to choosing the "oven".

    Ovens

An oven is a chamber covered from the inside with thermo-insulating material. As well as cooking surfaces, ovens are divided into two types: gas and electric.

Gas ovens are cheaper than electric, but they have several drawbacks. First, high explosiveness. As a result of attenuation of the burners in the oven, the probability of accumulation of a huge amount of gas is great. Therefore, all modern ovens are required to be equipped with the "Gas control" system. Secondly, gas burners do not allow to achieve uniform heating of the entire oven, which can negatively affect the cooking. Some ovens are equipped with a grill function that simulates cooking on a skewer over an open fire.

Electric ovens are much more functional and practical than gas. A huge number of different heating elements, completely covering the oven, can evenly heat the food, evenly distribute heat in the middle of the oven as a microwave oven. This, in turn, allows you to prepare several types of dishes at different levels of the oven, without fear that one of them will burn. Multifunctionality of the oven is manifested in different modes: from heating and defrosting food to baking homemade bread. Electric ovens are ideal for lovers of gastronomic masterpieces.

The following video will be devoted to the choice of the oven.

That's all the main criteria for choosing a gas cooker. Each of them is suitable for different conditions: whether it is a country house or an apartment, whether there is a gas pipeline or electricity. It remains only to decide which plate is right for you.

  • Kitchen stove - an indispensable household appliances in any home. Various processes in the kitchen, whether it's preparing morning coffee or baking cakes for a holiday cake, can not do without a "modern hearth".Kitchen stoves took their rightful place in our life and, perhaps, can be useless except raw food.

The modern market of kitchen appliances can offer a huge number of plates for every taste and color. The cooker consists of two parts: a hob on which there are cooking rings and an oven, also called an "oven".Therefore, the choice of a plate of "your dream" should be made in two stages.
