How to sew a chair bag: a master class and a pattern
How to sew a seat bag: a master class with patterns and a step-by-step description of the work of
Recently, bespoke furniture has become very popular. A bright representative among this kind of furniture is a seat bag or it is also called a pear chair.
It's very simple to make this very easy chair, so I prepared a master class how to sew a bag by myself.
Preparing for operation
Before proceeding to the very process of making an armchair, let's look at the specifics. The chair itself consists of two parts: an outer cover and an inner cover.
The outer cover must be provided with a long zipper and a desirable small handle to carry the bag around the apartment. Also it is worth considering that it is worth giving preference to dense and wear-resistant materials. It is best to make a cover of plashevka, curtain fabric, leatherette or even jeans.
The inner case will be filled with small balls of polystyrene or simply polysterol. The material can use lining or conventional coarse calico. Also do not forget about a small zipper for filling the bag and then stuffing it in case of crushing balls( after a while).
The dimensions of the future bag are 120 x 90 cm.
Materials for work:
- Fabric for inner case - 3 m
- Fabric on outer cover - 3 m
- Lightning 100 cm
- Lightning 40 cm
- Filler - 300 l
Before makingchair bag with your own hands, you need to accurately retake all the details of the pattern of the chair using millimeter paper. But it is possible to do without it, and with the help of chalk or soap, peresnyat details immediately on the fabric.
Pattern
To simplify the question of how to sew an armchair bag: the pattern is given with all dimensions.
Stages of work of
After the pattern is transferred to the fabric, it is necessary to note the allowances for seams. They should be a minimum of 1.5 cm to avoid unraveling the joints. If the fabric is loose, then the edges of the slices should be processed in a zigzag pattern.
The wedge for the chair needs to be cut in 6 pieces for each cover. Hexahedron for the top and bottom - 1 piece for each cover.
Approximate arrangement of the pattern on the fabric:
We begin assembling the details of the outer sheath.
The first two wedges are folded together so that the front side is inside. With the lightning bolt of 100 cm sewn from below and from the top to 15 cm. Then we take a zipper and sew it with a machine.
Attach the next wedge and press the seam on one side. The same applies to the rest of the details of the base of the chair. To fix the allowances on the seams, on the front side of the cover, make a line at a distance of 1 cm from the seam. The stitch is best done using the maximum size of the machine's stitch( 4-5).
Then sew the base and the bottom of the chair.
We turn to sewing the inner case. The process of sewing is similar to sewing an outer cover, except for sewing a zipper of 40 cm. To do this, top and bottom should be stitched up to 45 cm.
After the inner case is ready, proceed to packing with polystyrene beads. Be extremely careful with this material, since its entry into the respiratory tract is fraught with serious consequences. Do not neglect the use of a protective mask from the pharmacy. Fill the cover approximately 2/3 of the total volume of the bag so that the seat is soft.
I also attach a small video tutorial on sewing a bag chair to the above described work process.

And a few more tips:
- do not use too large polystyrene beads, as they very quickly crash, and the chair will need to be filled very often
- The use of cheap crumbs of foam is also undesirable, since thisrecycled packaging foam product. It is better not to risk that your chair does not get an unpleasant smell.
- , use a paper that is rolled into a pipe to work with polystyrene. So you can avoid sticking the balls to your hands and to the surrounding objects.
