Pleural treatment with folk remedies
Pleura of is called pleural inflammation, which most often accompanies pneumonia or pulmonary tuberculosis. Medicine divides pleurisy into dry, exudative and purulent.
Symptoms: the onset of dry pleurisy is characterized by sudden pains in the chest area, aggravated by movement, sneezing and coughing, deep breathing, excruciating dry cough and fever. The disease is accompanied by loss of appetite, general weakness and malaise. At night, a lot of sweat is possible.
Dry pleurisy occurs in most cases due to the tuberculosis process in the lungs, sometimes under the influence of other factors( pneumonia, tumors, chest injuries, lung abscess, rheumatism, etc.).
The main symptom is a stitching pain in the side, intensifying with deep breathing, coughing, sneezing. Most often, the pain is localized in the lower and lateral parts of the chest. Pain can spread along the nerve trunks of the hand, into the neck and abdomen. The body temperature is 37.1-37.9 ° C or normal.
When examining a patient, some lag of the affected half of the chest during breathing is noted. Usually dry pleurisy lasts 1-3 weeks and ends with recovery. The transition of dry pleurisy to exudative is possible. More details about the symptoms of this disease look here.
What's going on? Dry pleurisy usually occurs on the background of other diseases( pneumonia, lymphadenitis, tuberculosis, rheumatism, as well as liver disease).Exudative pleurisy is characterized by the accumulation of an inflammatory fluid in the pleural cavity. It can be caused by pneumonia, allergy, tuberculosis.
Exudative pleurisy is the accumulation of fluid( effusion) in the pleural cavity, accompanied by a weakening of the breath.
Exudative pleurisy often begins after dry pleurisy and is characterized by pain in the side, especially with a deep inspiration. There is a dry cough and general malaise. Body temperature rises slightly. Then, as the fluid accumulates in the pleural cavity, the pain recedes, and the body temperature rises significantly, reaching 40 ° C.At the same time, the symptoms that signal violations of the cardiovascular system caused by high fever and compression of the circulatory system increase. Sometimes exudative pleurisy has a fast course, then the disease starts suddenly with a chill, a severe fever, accompanied by a rapid increase in the amount of inflammatory fluid in the pleural cavity. Breathing becomes frequent and difficult, dyspnea develops. As a rule, the duration of the disease does not exceed 6 weeks( in mild cases - 1-2).
Purulent pleurisy becomes after penetration into the pleural cavity of infection from various inflammatory foci in the body. Purulent pleurisy, or empyema of the lung, is a very serious disease. Body temperature rises to 40 ° C.Strong chills alternate with profuse sweat. There are significant violations of the cardiovascular system, in protracted cases, kidney function is seriously impaired. Sometimes pus breaks into the bronchus and coughs up in the form of a cream-like mass. If this does not happen, only surgical intervention can help.
What should I do? Treatment, as with all other cases of diseases, is prescribed by a doctor. Bed rest should be strictly observed until the temperature drops, pain and coughing stops. Within 2 weeks a gentle regime is necessary.
Often there is a need for hospitalization, since to establish an accurate diagnosis, you may need a pleural puncture, and for treatment - the suction of inflammatory fluid from the pleural cavity. In all cases, strict adherence to bed rest is necessary. Particular attention should be paid to nutrition: it must be full and contain a large number of vitamins.
During the recovery period, respiratory gymnastics is recommended as prevention of adhesions and adhesions. After recovery, it is advisable to stay in a sanatorium.
Patients need rest, and with a rise in temperature - in bed rest. For pain relief, banks, mustard plasters, warming compresses with tight bandaging are prescribed.
Cough and pain are calmed by taking ambroxol, bromhexine, coterpine. Assign also anti-inflammatory and desensitizing agents. After the disappearance of pain and normalization of the temperature, the patient is recommended breathing exercises to prevent pleural fusion.
Exudative pleurisy is characterized by the presence in the pleural cavity of inflammatory exudation( exudate).The effusion can fill the entire pleural cavity and squeeze the lung and surrounding organs. In most cases, the cause of exudative pleurisy is tuberculosis. However, it can be a consequence of other infectious and non-infectious diseases, the same as in dry pleurisy.
An important therapeutic value is the hygienic regime and a full vitaminized diet. It is necessary in the period of resorption of exudate to conduct exercises in physiotherapy with the inclusion of breathing exercises, massage, physiotherapy ultrasound and electrophoresis with calcium chloride for 10-15 procedures.
Drugs are prescribed by the attending physician. Treatment of the underlying disease is carried out with antibiotics, antiallergic, anti-inflammatory and symptomatic agents.

Mustard seeds powder - 30 grams, water - 2.5 cups, honey - 1 hour.a spoon.
Powdered mustard powder with hot water, add honey and mix thoroughly.
Moisten the product with a terry towel or gauze, wring out and attach to the chest. Top with a film and woolen shawl. Compress for 20 minutes, then wipe the skin dry and lie down for one hour under the blanket.
Indications. Respiratory massage is prescribed during the recovery period a few days after the fall of body temperature. If during the period of the massage there is an increase in temperature, which does not decrease for several hours, it is necessary to reduce the force of influence or completely stop the use of the massage.
Contraindications. You can not massage with disease in the acute stage, as well as in pleural effusion.
The tasks set before the masseur in the treatment of pleurisy:
- to accelerate the resolution of infiltrates and exudates( accumulation of fluid in the pleural cavity);
- to activate lympho- and blood supply of the lungs;
- actively stimulate the mobility of the chest;
- reduce or prevent the occurrence of adhesions;
- to improve and activate the protective properties of the body.
The patient assumes sitting or lying position on the side that is affected by the disease.
At the beginning of the procedure, massage paravertebral zones L5-1, D9-3, C4-3 using massage techniques such as:
a) stroking, b) rubbing, c) kneading, d) vibration.
Then the massage is performed:
- the widest muscles of the back, sternocleidomastoid muscles, suprapastal and interblade area with the use of such techniques as:
a) stroking, b) rubbing the terminal phalanxes of the fingers and the ulnar edge of the hand, c) intermittent vibration,d) patting.
- sub- and supraclavicular zones:
a) stroking, b) rubbing the terminal phalanges of the fingers, c) hatching, d) puncturing, e) intermittent vibration.
- anterior cog muscles, large pectoral muscles, intercostal spaces and costal arches, diaphragm:
a) continuous vibration, b) rhythmic pressure above the lungs on the chest and back.
- chest:
a) compression of the chest by axillary lines at the level of V-VII ribs.
At the end of the session, breathing exercises are carried out.
The course of treatment is from 12 to 15 sessions, conducted daily or with an interval of one day. The duration of each procedure is 15 to 20 minutes.
