Causes of demodectic skin

Demodectic is an infectious disease caused by a subcutaneous demodex mite( demodex folliculorum), which lives in the sebaceous glands, glands of the eyelids and hair follicles. The size of the tick itself is no more than 0.5 mm. The tick feeds on the contents of the glands, and therefore the largest accumulation of individuals is observed in places most rich in sebaceous glands( these are the wings of the nose, nasolabial triangle, chin).Also, the localization of demodicosis becomes the eyes( eyelid edges).The presence of a tick is the main cause of demodectomy.

Symptoms of demodectic

90% of a healthy population are carriers of demodex, but it does not manifest itself. Often demodicosis is combined with rosacea, perioral dermatitis, especially after treatment with hormonal ointments, in men there is a combination of demodicosis with prostate pathology, and in women with thyroid gland pathology.

Treatment of demodectic

The goal of the treatment is the complete destruction of the tick and the creation in the organism of unfavorable conditions for its existence. As the etiological treatment, the following drugs are prescribed for the course: trichopolum, tiberal, externally ointment with trichopolum, benzyl benzoate, triderm, ointment of pits, and other means with short courses, then 1-2 weeks break and repeated course.

In parallel, vitamin therapy may be required, the treatment of chronic diseases if they are available to prevent the re-emergence of demodectic disease. At the time of treatment, it is necessary to exclude alcohol, smoking, sweet, spicy, give up decorative cosmetics.

The development cycle of demodex mite is from 15 to 25 days, respectively, the course of demodectic treatment should last at least a month. As a rule, several courses of treatment are used to prevent relapse.
