Joshta
General information: joshta is a fruit-bearing interspecific hybrid of black currant and gooseberries obtained in recent years. As for the origin of the name, the word "joshta" itself came from two German "currants" and "gooseberries" - Johannisbeere + Stachelbeere = Josta.
The bushes of this plant are powerful, sprawling. They have a great growth force and form shoots 1.5 m high and more. On yoshte, unlike gooseberry, there are no thorns completely. The leaves are dark green, large, shiny, but without the aroma of black currant. The flowers are large and bright.
The berries are black, with a purple touch, they have a very dense skin, the size and shape resemble a cherry. They have sweet and sour taste and pleasant muscat flavor.
Requirements: yoshta requires an open, sunlit area. The greatest yields it gives on well-cultivated, organic soils rich in soils. Prepare the soil for planting in the same way as for the currant. One should only take into account the high need of yoshty in potassium. To obtain a stable crop near yoshty, it is necessary to plant a black currant and gooseberry bushes.
Ingredients: berries are rich in vitamins C, R and anthocyanins. By the amount of vitamin C, ioshta exceeds the black currant by 4 times.
Landing: can be planted in spring and early autumn, although there are claims that the best timing is still the end of August - the beginning of September. When digging a plot under ioshtu for 1 m2, add up to 400 grams of lime, 8-10 kg of organic fertilizers, 100-120 grams of simple superphosphate, 80-100 grams of sulfuric acid potassium. And when filling the landing pit - 8-10 kg of organic fertilizers, 150-200 g. Simple superphosphate and 40-60 g sulfuric acid potassium. When landing, the distance between the rows is 2 m, in the row - 1,25-1,5 m. The diameter of the landing pit is 60 cm, the depth is 40 cm.
Care: the soil under the crown and near the trunk should be mulched. This creates a favorable water and nutrition regime in the soil, prevents the growth of weeds, reduces the need for loosening the soil. For mulch use humus or peat. Under one bush requires up to 20 kg of mulch. In the first 3 years, approximate fertilizer rates amount to 4-6 kg of organic fertilizers per year, 30 g of simple superphosphate, 20 g of potassium sulfate per 1 m2, in the fourth and subsequent years, 4-6 kg of organic fertilizers, 40 grams of simple fertilizerssuperphosphate and 24 g of sulfuric acid potassium.
Feeding yoshtu with the same fertilizers and at the same time as the black currant. Joshta is affected by the same pests and diseases that gooseberries and currants, methods of combating them in the section Pests and diseases of fruit and berry crops.
Pruning: the basic principles of trimming are determined by the relationship of yoshty with currants and gooseberries and are similar to the methods used for these shrubs.
Harvesting: full ripening of berries occurs within 2-3 weeks. Since the berries collected in small brushes, ripen at different times, they can long hang on the bush. In general, cleaning can begin at the end of July, when the fruits reach biological maturity.
Usage: fruits have medicinal properties - they are used for gastrointestinal diseases, they improve blood circulation and promote the excretion of radioactive substances and heavy metals from the body.
Berries are used fresh and frozen. From semi-ripe berries jam are cooked, and juices, compotes, jam, jam and jelly are prepared from mature berries.
