Useful and medicinal properties of the trilitarian watch( trifoli, trefoil of water)
Perennial herbaceous plant up to 20-30 cm tall. Rhizome long, creeping, green, knobby, inside
rub spongy. Roots subordinate, rare, long. Stems in the amount of 3-5 come out of the rising apex of the rhizome. Leaves regular, radical long-chain, triple, leaves on short petioles. The flowers are white, 4-5-membered, collected in a brush emerging from the rhizome. Fruit is a single-compartmented box. Blooms in May-June.

Medicinal raw materials are leaves collected during the flowering period, dried in the shade or in a ventilated room. Shelf life 2 years. The taste is very bitter.
The leaves contain bitter glycosides( menianzhin, meliatin), gencianin alkaloid, colorants, rutin, hyperosides, tannins, vitamin C.
In the grass, a fatty oil is found, consisting of glycerides, palmitic acid, other acids, choline, tarand iodine.
Water infusion of leaves( 1:10) and alcohol tincture are used as bitterness to improve appetite, increase secretion of digestive glands;as a means to improve the peristalsis of the stomach and intestines, as a laxative and choleretic( with reduced acidity), causing the secretion of gastric juice and improves digestion.
In folk medicine, in addition, the leaves of this plant are used for pulmonary tuberculosis, feverish conditions and as an antihelminthic agent, with hemorrhoids( with bleeding), liver and gallbladder diseases as a choleretic agent( especially in cholelithiasis);due to the fact that the leaves contain vitamin C, they are recommended for scurvy.
As a means of raising the general tone of the body, this plant is effective in pulmonary tuberculosis, provided that it is used for a long time and regularly in the form of a decoction or powder. This plant is also used
in the form of enemas with chronic constipation. In the form of leaf infusion - with tuberculosis, edema, anemia and inflammation of the joints.
Application
Decoction: 10 g per 200 ml;to use 1 tbsp.spoon before meals to increase appetite or 2 teaspoons of herbs pour a glass of boiling water, insist for 60 minutes, strain, take 1/4 cups half an hour before meals( also to increase appetite) with stomach ailments, etc.
For enemas -dilute this broth a half times.
Powder: 1-2 g three to four times a day before meals.
Infusion of leaves: 5-10 g per glass of water with reduced acidity of the stomach, insist 8 hours.
