Useful and medicinal properties of ungernia
Perennial bulbous plant of the family amaryllis. Radical leaves linear, 20-35 cm long, 2-3 cm wide, number 7-10, assembled into a rosette. They appear in the spring, remain green 2-3 months and then fade. In August, a leafless flower arrow is thrown, carrying a flower umbrella on top. The flower is yellowish, sometimes pink, on the inside of the flower is a pink and purple strip. On the root of the plant there are bulbs of several pieces, 4-7 cm in diameter.
Another kind of Ungernia - Ungernia Severtsova - is also widely distributed in the flora of Uzbekistan and Southern Kazakhstan. The flowers are red, bulbs up to 7 cm in diameter.
The third species - ungernia three-ball - is distinguished by pink flowers and larger bulbs - up to 12 cm in diameter.
Medicinal raw materials are bulbs and leaves that contain( bulbs ungernia Victor) 0,8-0,9% of the amount of alkaloids, roots - 2,25%, leaves - 0,33-1%.
As part of the amount of alkaloids found up to 0.2% alkaloid galantaline, as well as lycorone. Of the other ungernia species, the greatest amount of licorina is found in ungernia three-globular: in leaves( 0.45%) and in bulbs( 0.38%).
Pharmacological properties. Lycorin in small doses stimulates the secretion of the mucous glands of the bronchi, dilutes the sputum and thus contributes to its expectoration. In high doses, it causes vomiting. Lycorin reduces spasms of bronchial muscles.
Application in medicine. In doses of 0.1-0.2 mg, lycorone is used as an expectorant for diseases of the lungs and bronchi, bronchiectasis and bronchial asthma. The drug is prescribed 3-4 times a day. Higher doses can cause nausea, vomiting and other toxic effects. Contraindicated - with the open form of pulmonary tuberculosis, stomach ulcer and duodenum, and other diseases with a tendency to bleeding, as well as organic diseases of the central nervous system.
Is produced in tablets of 0.2 mg of licorin and 0.2 g of sodium bicarbonate. Store in a dark, cool place( list A).1 / 2-1 tablet 2-3 times a day after meals.
