First aid for poisoning with mushrooms
At the first sign of fungal poisoning, it is very important to prevent dangerous consequences. It is important not to waste time and immediately seek professional medical help: call an ambulance or doctor "at home", send the victim to the hospital. The earlier the patient is hospitalized, the greater the likelihood of preventing very serious consequences and a speedy recovery. Therefore, you need to know the main signs of poisoning - it's malaise, nausea, vomiting, cramping abdominal pain, abundant fluid stool.
Before the arrival of a doctor at home, you need to provide first aid. First you need to clean the stomach and intestines affected by food containing poison. For this it is recommended to drink as much boiled water as possible - not less than 5-6 glasses. In the water, you need to add a few crystals of potassium permanganate until a pale rose solution, salt or baking soda( 1 teaspoon per 12 liters of water). Then press your fingers on the root of the tongue to induce vomiting.
Inside you can also take several tablets( 1 g per 1 kg of weight of the patient) or a suspension of activated carbon( 50-80 g for 200-500 ml of water), white clay or chew 80-100 g of biscuits. Since toxins activate the activity of pathogenic microbes in the body, it is necessary to take vitamin C( up to 1 g), as well as antibiotics( levomycetin, neomycin). All this is washed down with a lot of water. Cold strong tea, coffee or milk are also shown, which to some extent neutralize the poison.
One of the first methods of providing emergency assistance for poisoning with fungi was proposed by the French scientist Pierre Bastien. To prove the effectiveness of first aid measures taken at the earliest after the poisoning, he had to experiment on himself. For this he several times in front of colleagues and journalists ate a lethal dose of pale toadstool, and then took measures to remove toxins from the body.
When poisoning, you can also apply laxatives and make an enema. Before the "ambulance" arrives, the injured person must be put in bed, as many fungal poisonings have cardiac and circulatory disturbances. The victim must be in a stationary state, as movements accelerate the absorption of poisons into the blood. You can put a compress on your head, and at the feet - a heating pad. When fainting in the lying position, you need to lower your head down and raise your legs. When spasms of gastrocnemius muscles on the lower leg, apply mustard plasters.
When poisoning is categorically contraindicated the use of alcoholic beverages, as they exacerbate the action of toxins and contribute to the faster absorption of toxic substances into the blood.
The remains of inedible mushrooms, as well as cleaning from them, must be preserved before the arrival of the doctor and subsequent laboratory tests - they will help to find out the cause of the poisoning and accordingly take the necessary measures.
