External application of drugs
In all cases, the application of medicines should be carried out on clean skin, clean tools and thoroughly washed hands.
Skin lubrication is usually done with cream, paste or ointment to soften the skin surface, accelerate the healing of lesions on it or to protect the tissue from external adverse factors( moisture, air, dust, etc.).
As instructed by the doctor, ointment is slightly covered with this or that part of the body, applying a thin layer of the skin to the skin with the help of a gauze or cotton swab or spatula. Often, the doctor prescribes profuse lubrication, for which the ointment is applied thickly on a gauze or cotton-tampon swab and then applied to a sore spot.
For a more active and penetrating into the body of the drug or the introduction of medicinal substance into the body through the skin, without violating its integrity, the doctor can recommend rubbing the skin with medicinal solutions, creams, ointments or pastes.
Before performing this medical function, it is necessary first to wash with warm water and then dry up the appropriate place of the patient's body. Rub the prescribed medication with light circular movements of the fingers or with the entire brush only at the time and in the amounts indicated by the doctor.
Powdering is used to reduce inflammation, itching, and also to protect against sunlight.
Powder, powder, talc, other agents are applied with cotton wool or gauze pouch, sprinkling from a height of 5-10 cm. At home, for these purposes, a small jar with a narrow neck on which gauze is fixed can be used. Inside the cans, the medicinal powder is pre-poured, which, when shaking the inverted can, is evenly sieved through the gauze to the affected area of the skin.
On wetting skin surfaces, trophic ulcers, with acute inflammatory processes, to reduce burning, itching and for therapeutic purposes, appoint lotions.
A tampon made of gauze or a bandage folded several times is moistened with a cooled solution of the medicine and, slightly wrung out, is applied to the lesion site for 5-10 minutes( before warming), after which the procedure is repeated.
