Diapers for your baby
In the first years of your life, your child will spend most of the time in diapers, and you will spend most of your time changing them. Here's how to do all the best for your baby's ass and for your own time.
How to carry out a disguise with the benefit of
Be prepared for the fact that during the period of your life before becoming accustomed to a pot you will have to change about five thousand diapers;this joint activity in frequency surpasses unless the feeding of a child. Instead of being a painful job done with reluctance and disgust, changing a diaper can be a full-fledged communication for you and your child. During the change of a diaper occurs more than just the transition of a child from wet clothing to a dry one. The child feels your touch, hears your voice, looks at your face and reacts to your smile( and you to it).Even before you start the task, establish a contact with the child. Focus on the child, not at work. Suppose you have a few special facial expressions, sounds or massage movements reserved for the changing time so that the child can expect more than just a clean diaper, and be sure to pass this dressing practice to everyone who will replace you.
Look forward to changing the diaper as a time to let your child understand that it is particularly dear to you. Avoid expressions of disgust at the sight of the contents of the
diaper or about the smell( that's where the children receiving breast milk have the advantage - the smell is not so unpleasant!).Your face is a mirror for a child. The child looks at you and evaluates himself based on what he sees on your face. We exclaim that we have found "treasures", and adhere to admiring and loving intonations.
How to choose a diaper and a fixing case
Whether you choose fabric or disposable diapers - a matter of convenience, price and your concern for the environment. And, of course, your child's skin should be an important factor. What type of diaper does your child's skin react best to? Many parents use both types: fabric diapers from 100% cotton at home and disposable diapers on the street.
If you use tissue diapers, the next option is to wash the house or use the services of a diaper wash service( delivery of diapers to your home or rental diapers).The services of washing diapers are highly appreciated as an invention that saves labor. You get a week's supply of sanitized diapers from 100 percent cotton, washed, rinsed and softened by professionals who know how to handle diapers best. As your child grows, the service gives you larger diapers. If you calculate how much it costs to buy your own diapers, how much you will pay for using the self-service laundry, add here the time, energy expended and the price of experiments with detergents, bleach, conditioners for softening linens and so on, then the diaper washing service will seem worth those extramoney that you give them. Subscribing to the services of a diaper washing service is a very practical gift.
One of the main reasons that parents choose disposable diapers is their lack of understanding that the diapers supplied by the service are just as convenient. All the stools that can be shaken off in the toilet should be shaken off, but after that the diaper does not need to be soaked. It is simply thrown into a bucket( equipped with a very effective deodorizing device), and the rest is taken care of by the washing service. Our concern is that feces, along with disposable diapers, fall into the garbage can, and all this as a result is on a garbage dump, in soil that is not capable of utilizing and neutralizing human excrement. It is required to choose a system for using diapers that would be convenient for parents, useful for the baby's skin and would not harm the environment.
Once I was asked what I consider to be the biggest breakthrough in childcare in the last five years. I answered: "The refusal of pins for diapers."As often the father of eight children who has been croaking his hands, I do not like pins, but they do not like me. Fixing fabric diaper covers with buckles-velcro( Velcro) have reduced the number of spoiled children and parents. They are gorgeous! As they breathe, the fabric covers do not harm the ass of the child, unlike plastic panties that hold moisture and cause rashes and intertrigo.
Change of diapers
Here's the basic way to change a baby diaper. Diapers that do not require pins, disposable or "all in one" are not required to be folded, wrapped around the child and, of course, chipped.
Preparing the child
Wear a child in a warm place, on a secure and soft surface. Before you begin, check to see if all you need is at hand. You will need:
• clean diapers;
• pins or clamps for diapers;
• fixing waterproof covers;
• cream against rashes and diaper rash;
• cotton balls and warm water in the first few weeks, and later conventional tissue wipes or special baby wipes( wet disposable);
• clean laundry.
It is best to have a dressing table or a table specially designed for this purpose, where everything is conveniently located.
After removing the dirty diaper, rinse the baby's ass until it passes the odor test. Dry it dry.
If the child is prone to rashes or diaper rash, apply a barrier cream( see "Irritations from diapers or diaper rash: How to prevent and treat them").
How to fold the diaper and wrap the child in it
Depending on the age and completeness of your baby, here are some time-tested ways to fold the tissue diaper and wrap the baby in it.
The main way to add. Place the diaper under the child, as shown in Fig. A, fold the lower end along into three layers( Figure B).Now, while holding the diaper, lay the folded three-fold part between the baby's legs( Figure B).Evenly distribute the front and rear edges of the
, if necessary, tuck the ends, then bend the rear ends over the gear, so that the diaper fits tightly around the child.
Shearing. Hold all the layers of fabric on one side with one hand, with the other hand, insert the pin( in the direction from the navel), passing it through all the layers of the outer edge tissue and only through the top layer of the inner edge( not to prick yourself).At the same time, be sure to keep your fingers between the baby's skin and the diaper so as not to prick the child's
( Figure D).Rock the other side in exactly the same way.
Method of addition "below the navel".
While the newborn has not yet lost the umbilical cord, pull the back side of the diaper higher so that the front edge is below the navel.
The way of adding a "bikini". Start folding in the main way, then twist the bottom of the diaper so that the twisted portion is in the groin area( Figure D).Baste, as described above. This method of addition is better suited for children with plump legs and provides an additional absorbent layer if the child is very much wetting diapers, but in this case there is a greater likelihood of leakage.
Double nappies. If the baby is very much wetting diapers and for greater dryness at night, use two diapers or fold the second diaper along and put it inside with the basic method of addition. Or, for greater thickness, use a large diaper rather than an age, and bend the lower third to create a double thickness, and then proceed to the basic method of addition( Figure E).
Secrets how to make diaper change safe and fun
• Always leave at least one hand on the baby: during the diaper change, children can fall off the table. While you turn away or while you are looking for a clean diaper, the child will have enough seconds to slip to the floor. Use a safety belt, but do not rely on it.
• Handle the pins carefully. Do not leave open pins within reach of the child. Do not hold pins in your mouth, as the child can try to simulate this dangerous habit. For pins to be easy to store, stick them in a bar of soap.
• If you are not accustomed to swaddling children on the table, do it on the floor - it's safer than anything.
• Change diapers more often, especially if your child has a tendency to skin irritations from diapers. It's hard to tell if the baby is wet if you use super absorbent disposable diapers. They need to be changed as often as you would change the tissue diapers. Using tissue diapers, you will not count the cost every time you change a child.
• Place a protective cloth diaper or towel under the baby on the changing table or on the floor.
• Keep an extra clean diaper nearby for a new fountain.
• Be careful when handling moistened baby napkins: some children can not tolerate skin. If you use the services of a diaper washing service, you can use a diaper to wipe the baby after a bowel movement, and then you do not have to wash the disgusting wipes yourself in your own washing machine. If you use your own diapers and wash them yourself, you can throw napkins together with dirty diapers.
• When the child goes through the "eat-poke" period( usually after the
"all in one" diapers) Turn the baby into a diaper - now it does not have to be a hard and tedious job, as before.from the folding of a rectangular flap of tissue, chipping it close to the body( not pricking the child or yourself) and tight fitting the waterproof pants over the wriggling legs and restless ass, in order to fix the tricky design - just for the child toHe changed his business before he left the changing table, which often happens. You can now get a cotton diaper, a nylon cover and Velcro fasteners or buttons in one package - all in one convenient to put on a diaper. Somewhat more expensive, but real salvation for the employedAsk your diaper service for a diaper or at a baby clothes store without pins. When we wrote this book, we raised two babies in diapers."All in One" was a real salvation for us, and I think the pleasure of easy dressing helped us to get more pleasure from this time spent with our children.
for the first month), change the baby diaper( if it is dirty or wet) directly to the before feeding .Then after feeding the child will be able to dive into a nap, and you do not have to disturb him by changing clothes.
• Be especially careful if the child has a painful rash or diaper rash, which is a very sensitive area. Or soak the ass of the child in a basin of warm water, until it is clean, or resort to soothing warmth, applying warm compresses from a wet towel, and then wipe the skin dry, minimizing friction. Perhaps you will need to pour additional warm water. Talk with the child in a gentle, soothing voice and generously apply barrier cream, gently smearing it and not injuring the skin at the same time.
