• Yarn perimeter( advise to use a thicker yarn, then pompons will turn very lush)

Before you get started, you need to prepare a wooden frame or take a piece of plywood and drivenails along the edges. Dimensions of the workpiece remain at your discretion, but it is worth considering that the size of the blanket itself will depend on the size of the frame-base. I prepared a blank with dimensions 80x80, driving nails at a distance of 4 cm from each other.

We begin the constriction of the workpiece. We fix the thread on the first stud from the edge. Each row( strip) consists of 50 strands. Since the constriction is made criss-cross, but at the intersection of the rows, 100 threads are obtained. The process of pulling the threads:

As during the work we will cut a part of the threads between the "crossroads", I advise you to use several colors of yarn. I'll explain why. We will not cut all the threads between the intersection of rows, but only 30. In order not to suffer from the calculations, stretch the first 20 rows of the thread of one color, and then 20 rows - the other, and again near the first 10 colors( but you can add a third color).Now we have a visual distinction between the working thread and the warp thread, which remains untouched.

After completing the constriction, we need to fix all the intersections of the threads so that our plaid does not crumble during the work. You can simply tie yarn threads in color.

Our blank for the rug is ready. Now we turn to cutting the threads between the intersections of the rows. Be careful! We cut only a part of the threads, that is, the first 20 rows remain untouched - this is our blanket base. Cut exactly in the middle of the row.
