Home doctor's advice
Drugs in tablets and capsules is best taken while standing or sitting, but not lying down and be sure to drink with water. After this, do not lie down for another 1.5 minutes: otherwise the medicine will stick to the inner surface of the esophagus and after 10 minutes it can collapse before reaching the stomach.
Inhalation of with soda, menthol or eucalyptus should be done through a funnel made of heavy paper, at least 40 cm long. Begin inhalation after 5-10 minutes after water has boiled, but in no case should you breathe over boiling water.
An inhaler for home use can easily be made from a hot air blower and a chemist's bottle, through which two glass tubes are passed through the stopper. The air is blown through the inhalation solution( prescribed by the doctor), after which the solution vapors enter the funnel. The funnel, which serves for inhaling vapors, is made from tin and fits tightly around the mouth and nose.
If you suddenly hoarse, and you need to give a lecture, teach a lesson, speak in front of the audience, boil the milk, remove the spoon from the formed foam and breathe over the pan, taking deep breaths. Pairs of milk will reduce inflammation and swelling of the laryngeal mucosa, the voice will become purer.
Do not dig in the nose of vasodilator drops for more than 3-5 days. This will inevitably lead to a persistent swelling of the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx, a disturbance in the motor activity of the cilia of the ciliated epithelium, which can no longer protect the respiratory tract from the microorganisms and dust that come with the air flow. And you not only will not get rid of the common cold, but also permanently put out of action the protective barriers to penetration of the adenovirus infection into the body.
Many medications at home are pipetted. To facilitate the countdown, it is convenient to advance it in advance. Say, 1 division corresponds to 4 drops. Then you can quickly and accurately get the right amount of drops from the bottle.

In hot water, moisten cotton wool and attach to the patient's eye. The procedure lasts 15-20 minutes and is carried out 3-4 times a day. Do not try to squeeze out barley, it can lead to complications.
Jaundice - take a bit of celandine grass( up to 10 g), cook in wine or vinegar, add white sugar, drink until dinner, like tea - 10 days. Take in the pharmacy 30 grams of saltpeter, 20 grams of ammonia, 12 g of citric acid, pound all into powder, stir in a liter of pure wine or wine vinegar. If you want to apply iodine mesh , which is used as a distracting anti-inflammatory agent for respiratory diseases, as well as for pain syndrome caused by osteochondrosis, apply a cotton ball to the stick, moisten it with 5% with iodine alcohol tincture and apply to the skinintersecting horizontal and vertical bands about 1 cm wide. The iodine grid will be more effective if it is drawn along certain lines, since there are reflex links between the pointson the skin and internal organs.
In bronchitis, tracheitis, pneumonia, vertical lines should be drawn along the middle line of the sternum, then parallel to it from both sides through the middle of the clavicle and parallel to these lines in the middle between them, one more line must be drawn( Fig. 1).
On the back, two vertical lines are placed on both sides parallel to the spine through the inner edge of the scapula and in the middle between these lines and the spine( Fig. 2).
Horizontal lines on both the back and chest should be held along the intercostal spaces,pass the vessels and nerves, rich in reflex connections.
Figure .
In pain syndromes caused by osteochondrosis of the spine, iodine mesh is applied as follows: on both sides in parallel the spine is carried by vertical lines through the inner edge of the scapula, along the spine itself and in the middle between them. Depending on the localization of pain, they can continue to the lumbosacral spine( Fig. 3).On these lines there are points influencing which the physicians-reflexotherapists relieve pain in the thoracic and lumbar spine. The horizontal lines are drawn along the intercostal spaces.
Iodine mesh should not be applied to the skin at body temperature above 38 °, and also to people with hypersensitivity to iodine. If this is disregarded, a severe allergic reaction( hives, Quincke's edema) may develop.
Therefore, first check the sensitivity of your body to iodine preparations. This is done very simply: on the inner surface of the forearm, apply one or two small strokes of a match moistened with a 5% alcohol tincture of iodine. If after 15 minutes the skin does not turn red, there is no swelling, you can apply iodine mesh. It is recommended to do this no more than 2-3 times a week.
The action of the mustard plasters is based on the stimulation of the ethereal mustard oil of the skin receptors, which causes a rush of blood to it and promotes resorption of the inflammatory process and a reduction in pain. They put them on the back, the upper part of the chest, on the back of the head, arms, legs. But this procedure can not be done with skin irritation.
Wash the mustard in warm water, the temperature of which is not higher than 36-40 ° C. If the water is hot, then the irritating effect on the skin of the essential mustard oil sharply decreases. With a wet mustard shake off excess water and attach it to the skin with mustard down, laying a piece of porous paper( but not newspapers), cover with a towel, and carefully wrap the patient with a blanket. Keep mustard should be from 5 to 15 minutes, but if there is pain, it should not be tolerated, as there may be a burn.
After removing the mustard, wipe the skin with gauze or a piece of cotton wool moistened with warm water, then dry with a towel and grease with vaseline or any nutritious cream. Put the patient on and cover it well.
Keep in mind that a mustard mustard when moistened with warm water emits a sharp smell of mustard oil, and does not crumble dry.
You can make canards by yourself. A tablespoon of dry mustard and the same amount of wheat or potato flour, mix until a mushy mass, pouring a little hot water. After 30 minutes, pour the gruel into a layer of 0.5 cm on a double layer of gauze or a piece of cloth of the required size, cover with a second layer of gauze or fabric and apply to the skin. Then cover the mustard plaster with a towel and a blanket. Homemade mustard is always stronger than ready, so they need to keep no more than 5-6 minutes.
Foot mustard baths. Fill one or two tablespoons of mustard in a cloth bag and put it in a bucket of warm water( 35-37 ° C), squeeze several times. Then immerse the patient's legs in the solution until the middle of the shin. The duration of this procedure is 10-20 min. After the bath, wash your feet with warm water, dry them with a towel and put the patient in bed.
Banks of have a strong effect on the skin and promote the resorption of foci of inflammation and reduce pain. They are contraindicated in bleeding, tuberculosis, skin diseases and increased sensitivity, severe exhaustion of the patient, a state of sharp general agitation with convulsions.
You can not put jars on the heart, spine, skin area 6 pigmentation, and in women also on the area of mammary glands.
Before you put the jars, wash them thoroughly with hot water, wipe dry, be sure to check the integrity of their edges and lay them on a napkin at the bedside of the patient. Nearby should be alcohol or cologne, matches, petroleum jelly, thin metal rod. On it tightly wind cotton wool and fasten it with a thread, so that the burning swab does not come off.
Banks can be placed on the back, sides, waist, under the clavicles, on the front surface of the chest.
When appointing the procedure, the doctor indicates which areas should be warmed up. If the skin is abundantly covered with hair, they are shaved, the body is wiped with a damp towel.
Before the procedure, lubricate the skin with Vaseline. This will ensure a better fit of the cans and protect from burns.
Pivot with a cotton swab soak with alcohol or cologne, press it and light it. Hold the jar in your left hand, and right quickly, for one or two seconds, enter into it( but not touching the walls!) A burning swab and then quickly attach to the body. If the pot is placed correctly, the skin is drawn into it and becomes bright pink or purple. When all the banks are put( usually 10-20 pieces), cover them with a dry towel, and on top - with a blanket. The duration of the procedure is 10-20 minutes.
Remove the cans alternately. With one hand, tilt the jar slightly to one side, and with your finger press the skin against its edge on the opposite side, then it will easily fall off. Then carefully wipe the skin with a dry towel, warm the patient warm and cover with a blanket.
The heating compress is placed on the neck, chest, arms, legs, abdomen with angina, dry pleurisy, bronchitis, as well as with muscle pain, spasms of muscles and vessels, inflammation of the joints only as prescribed by the doctor. It has a resorptive action, and also helps to relax the muscles and reduce pain.
Piece of a clean soft cloth that absorbs moisture well, fold in two or three layers, soak in room temperature water( 18-20 ° C) and, slightly pressing, apply to a sore spot. On top, cover with an oilcloth or wax paper, which should be 2-3 cm wider than the wet cloth. Then put the cotton wool, flannel or baika with a layer of wider oilcloth and carefully bandage the compress. You can also put a woolen shawl or scarf on top.
It is recommended to keep the water pack from 6 to 10 hours.
When it is necessary to strengthen the action of the compress, the doctor recommends moistening the gauze not in water, but in vodka or alcohol diluted with water, or put a heating pad over the warming compress. Since such compresses irritate the skin, they can not be kept for a long time.
If the compress is delivered correctly, the removed tissue will be moist and warm. Sometimes it happens that after applying the compress the patient feels chills. This means that the compress is weakly bandaged and loosely adheres to the body. In this case, it must be re-applied.
Some people who use the warming compress for a long time, loosen their skin, it creates an intertrigo, itch appears. To avoid this, after removing the compress, wipe the skin with alcohol in half with water, vodka, wine vinegar or cologne and wipe dry.
The break between compresses must be at least two hours.
You can not put a warming compress for those who suffer from skin diseases, especially pustular.
Hot compress promotes active vasodilation: tissue nutrition improves, muscles relax and pain decreases. This compress is used for migraine, intestinal, renal and hepatic colic, as well as after an injury, but not earlier than on the second day.
Soft cloth, folded in several layers, damp in hot water( 60-70 ° С), squeeze and attach to the body, cover it with oilcloth or wax paper of a larger size, and on top - a thick layer of cotton wool, a woolen shawl or a blanket. Change the compress after 5-10 minutes, until the pain subsides.
Cold compress ( lotion) the doctor appoints with headache, bruises, sprains, nasal bleeding, and also if a bee or sting has been stung. This compress causes local cooling, which reduces pain.
Take a piece of gauze or other cotton cloth, folded in several layers, moisten with cold water( preferably if it is with ice), lightly squeeze and attach to a sore spot. Change the lotion should be in 2-3 minutes, as the tissue quickly warms up.
The lotion is usually done for an hour until the pain stops or the nose bleeds stop.
In some cases, the doctor recommends adding vinegar( 2 tablespoons per half liter of water) to the water for a better cooling effect, and also use an infusion of arnica, chamomile or lead water.
Pathology of the rectum - hemorrhoids, anal fissures, paraproctitis, tumors - are now quite common.
The proctologist( specialist in rectal problems) advises you to apply for a special diagnosis - colonoscopy - and medical care if you have at least one of the following:
• Stool rhythm disorder;
• an admixture to feces of mucus or blood;
• decreased appetite;
• abdominal pain;
• itching( burning) in the anus;
• signs of anemia( anemia) in a blood test.
Blink more often when you go to the cinema or watch TV.
The first law of view reads: "When the eye moves, it sees."No one can watch a film or a television program unless the eyes move. Thus, both going to the movies, and watching TV programs can be very useful for the eyes, if you look correctly. Moreover, in both cases it is even possible to improve one's vision.
Dr. Huxley gives very useful recommendations.
Analyze how you sit and at what distance from the TV.Sitting should be straight, not tilting the head to the left or to the right. As for the distance, everything, as a rule, depends only on the arrangement of furniture in the room. If the sofa is far from the TV, then the person is sitting there, although the distance to the screen does not correspond to the optimal one, which is typical for him. By the way, the doctor can establish the distance.
Children are allowed to sit at any distance. Often they are located simply on the floor, looking at the TV screen and staying in the most uncomfortable poses for several hours. At the same time, some children are allowed to watch TV and do - let's say, do lessons - at the same time. In this case, one should take into account that the human brain can concentrate at a certain moment on the fulfillment of only one task. Attempting to concentrate on doing homework and watching television transmission at the same time is one of the worst mental loads and can cause eye strain.
For good vision, air is needed: the eyes should receive oxygen. Therefore, take care of ventilation. Especially in winter, when the heating is turned on and the room becomes, in fact, hermetically sealed.
Here are a few rules that you should follow when watching movies and TV shows.
Sit necessarily at the distance that corresponds to the type of your vision.
Do not tilt your head or tilt it. Look at the screen directly, often blink.
One should not look at one point, let the eyes travel around the screen.
At the same time, when the action on the screen unfolds slowly or between series, gently close your eyes, give a rest and strengthen the nerves of the retina.
If possible, sit straight in front of the screen, not on the side.
For those who need to strengthen their vision, the cinema and TV can become good assistants.
For myopic: take off your glasses and cover your eyes with your palms. For the eyes it is very harmful when you take off your glasses and immediately, without letting them get used to the change, you need intense tension.
Sit so close to the screen that you can see what's going on, not very clearly, but it's enough to keep an eye on the action. Do not try to see a clear image, just look, breathe deeply, look at the whole screen, and soon you will feel an improvement.
Sit at the same distance from the screen and change it only when there is a real improvement. In this case, slightly increase the distance. One of my short-sighted patients, Huxley writes, began to sit in the front row, and a few months later he was sitting in the last row of the balcony.
For the farsighted: remove the glasses and determine where it is more convenient to look at the screen. Often, those suffering from hyperopia find that glasses reduce their vision even at a distance. These people will have to improve their eyesight both at close range and far away. In this case, sit first close to the screen, and then move away and find a place convenient for you at a distance from the screen. If the vision is not difficult in the distance, sit as far as possible and gradually move to the screen as the vision improves.
Pay attention to all the rules for restoring a good view: blinking, looking at the eyes, breathing, briefly covering the eyes to relieve the tension of the muscles of the eyes and eyelids and periodically - into the darkness for resting the nerves of the retina.
When you walk down the street, no matter how much you see or not, keep your eyes open, but do not look intently at the objects, but turn instead your head, noting to yourself what is happening on one side of the sidewalk, then what is done on thethe other side. Do not forget to blink and breathe deeply. Many people with poor eyesight either keep their eyes covered up, or stare somewhere in space. Both of these habits do not contribute to the acquisition of good vision.
When you walk around the house, even if you know the location of objects on the street well, put your forearm in front of you as a kind of bumper. It will not be very noticeable and will secure you during the exit through the open door for a walk. In addition, this will save you from any possible head injuries.
When driving, do not tilt your head forward, peering through the windshield. Instead, keep your head( and your attention too) in a slow, gentle movement while exploring the landscape on one side of the freeway, then on the other, from the left to the right and back. Often close your eyes to let them rest. It will relax and bring relief to your eyes. The blood flow will wash and remove from the blood vessels all kinds of blockages and slags. It would be useful to take with them on a long trip a triangular pillow to use it when palming, when the eyes are very tired. Relaxing and maintaining the eyes in a relaxed state will be of great help in achieving a comfortable eye condition and improving vision.
Tip 1-st. It is necessary to correctly calculate the rational mode of visual load. The first thing you should pay attention to is a comfortable posture when reading, writing or working on a computer. Why read lying is harmful? Because in this position, it is not possible to keep the distance from the book to the eye, which should be 35-40 cm, and provide the correct lighting. The child is generally best read at the table. The book should not be placed on the countertop, which causes the low-bent head skill to be formed( later it can lead to myopia), but put it on a special stand. The power of the table lamp should not be more than 60-75 watts. But at the same time, the upper light must also burn. Do not read on the bus and in the car. Vibration constantly changes the distance from the eyes to the book, which causes excessive tension and fatigue.
Tip 2-nd. If possible, avoid publications with glossy pages. They are very bright, their eyes get tired faster, and, consequently, the chance to earn short-sightedness increases.
Board 3-rd. After every hour of reading, or letters, arrange a "visual break" for 10 minutes. At this time, any burden on the eyes, TV including, is excluded.
Tip 4 th. The distance from the TV screen to the eye should be at least three meters. And from the computer screen to the eye - the distance of the outstretched hand, i.e.approximately 70 cm. Do not forget about glasses( if there is a doctor's recommendation).Computer font should be as clear and large as possible. Most short-sighted people in Japan. The thing is that hieroglyphs require a much greater strain of vision than letters. When reading, the eyes are permanently fixed for a short distance, which is detrimental to vision.
Ivy, as already mentioned, refers to poisonous plants. When in contact with fresh ivy raw materials, dermatitis may occur - inflammation of the skin. Its fruits are especially toxic. Extreme caution should be exercised when preparing and storing ivy preparations if the house has children. And of course, as with the treatment of other potent drugs, it is advisable to get a doctor's advice before starting treatment, preferably a qualified phytotherapeutist. When allergic reactions occur during ivy treatment, discontinue the procedure immediately.
Decoction of leaves or bark: take 1 tablespoon of crushed raw material, pour in an enameled pot with 1 glass of hot water, put on a water bath and stand for half an hour. Then the composition is cooled, 2-3 layers of gauze are filtered through
and the volume of the liquid is heated with warm boiled water to the original one. Take 1 tablespoon 2-3 times a day with diseases of the respiratory and digestive organs. The broth is also used for external use in various skin lesions and diseases.
Treatment and prevention of cellulite Ukrainian folk healers share with us a proven method of treating cellulite: a course of therapeutic baths with ivy preparations in company with other medicinal plants. Herbs are used in turn. For example, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, baths are prepared with a mixture of decoctions of ivy foliage, vine foliage and thyme herb. And on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday take a bath with sage.
To prepare the broth, take 1 cup of fresh ivy leaves, they are not cut, but only washed, pour 2 liters of boiling water and boil for an hour on low heat. In addition, take 20-25 grape leaves and a handful of herbs of thyme, grind and dip into water, where ivy is brewed. After 10 minutes remove from heat and insist until cooled. You can prepare the mixture in the morning and leave until the evening. Then the broth is filtered and poured into a bath - so that the total temperature of the water is 40-42 ° C.How much to be in a medical bath depends on the individual's well-being. It is recommended to start with 10 minutes and gradually bring the duration of the procedure to 20-25 minutes. The bath is taken daily. If there are signs of allergy, treatment should stop or reduce the concentration of phyto-mixtures - by 1/3 or half. The next day, prepare a bath with sage. To do this, take 2 pharmacy packages of herbal raw materials, pour 2 liters of cold water and leave for 1 hour for swelling. You can use fresh raw materials - 5-10 sprigs of sage grass for 2 liters of water, then immediately put the liquid on the fire. Bring to a boil, cook for 5 minutes, remove from heat and insist until cooled. The finished broth is poured into the bath.
Dr. Maurice Messege, author of "The Nature of Law", also recommends ivy as an effective remedy for combating cellulite. The skin, which looks like an orange peel, becomes again smooth and elastic as a result of this treatment. Messege uses ivy in the form of ointments, lotions and compresses - they are applied to problem areas. Another way: rub such areas on the skin with the crushed grass of ivy or apply it for several hours in the form of a poultice. This method is used for small cellulite foci. A few large handfuls of ivy( or ivory buds) are soaked in hot water for 24 hours and then rubbed with this infusion affected by cellulite patches. In the absence of allergic reactions, it can be done several times a day.
Treatment of calluses
It is necessary to take 2 tablespoons of fresh ivy leaves, grind them, pour 0.5 liters of water. Boil over low heat for 10 minutes. Then drain the broth, and put hot ivy leaves on a coarsened place. After 20 minutes, the leaves are removed and the softened corneal layer is removed. At the end of the procedure, the skin should be greased with vegetable or butter.
Hair Care
To stimulate the growth of hair, prepare the infusion of ivy leaves. Take a cotton swab, lower it into infusion, carefully moisten hair and scalp once a day( in the evening).The main course lasts 15-20 days, to fix the effect it can be repeated.
