The risk of developing allergies in a child is also provoked by a lack of vitamins in the diet and an unhealthy environmental situation in the area of residence.
Allergies can also be caused by psychological problems - this phenomenon is often observed in very young children, lacking maternal attention.

- Bronchial asthma;
For attentive parents it's easy to notice the allergy symptoms in children, they manifest quickly and are very noticeable.
Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the mucous membrane of the eye, accompanied by redness, swelling of the eyelids and itching or pain in the eye.
Atopic dermatitis - otherwise skin allergy - in children is manifested in the form of diathesis, urticaria, rash, eczema, itching. This can be either a manifestation of a contact allergy-for example, allergies to detergent powder or animal hair-and a manifestation of food allergy that occurs when certain foods are eaten. Dermatitis occurs over a long period and is characterized by severe itching, inflammation and dry skin, therefore requires immediate treatment.
Allergic rhinitis is a disease of the nasal mucosa, characterized by a permanent nasal congestion, an itch in the nose and secretions from it. Often accompanied by frequent sneezing.
Allergic rhinitis and dermatitis with age can develop into bronchial asthma - this course of the disease is observed in about 25% of children. It is based on allergic inflammation of the respiratory tract. In most cases, its first manifestation is noted in children under 5 years old. A child with asthma often has difficulty breathing. With exacerbation of asthma, dyspnea appears, breathing audible whistles and wheezing, there is a cough. An asthma attack is an emergency, a child should be provided with qualified care.
Sometimes, when the allergen is strongly affected, the baby may develop Quincke's swelling or anaphylactic shock.
Treatment of an illness
Treatment of an allergy in children consists of determining the type of allergy( food allergy, pollinosis, asthma, contact allergy, etc.), determining the type of allergens the child responds to, and the appropriate treatment.
To date, there are two ways to determine allergens:
- Skin tests. The method is most common because of its lightness and safety. On the forearm of the child, a drop of solution with an allergen is applied and a slight scratch is made on the skin so that the substance penetrates into the blood. If within 15 minutes there was a skin reaction at this place - redness, itching or papula - it is noted that the child is allergic to this substance.
- Blood test. This method allows you to identify the presence of antibodies to allergens. It should be borne in mind that tests for allergens make sense if the child has previously had contact with an allergen - for example, it is impossible to determine if the child has an allergy to mushrooms, if he has never eaten them.
Based on the results of the tests, the doctor determines how to cure the allergy in the child, and prescribes appropriate medications. Mostly it's a diet, antihistamines and ointments.
Allergy medications for children should be given at doses appropriate to age. Antihistamines of the new generation, used in children, do not have a sedative effect, are not addictive and are produced in the form of suspensions that are pleasant to taste.
Allergy to the skin in children is treated with special ointments and creams. Ointment from allergies for children for children for children contains substances that remove inflammation. Recently, a special cream for children's allergies containing emollients has been developed. It can be used preventively - to moisturize the baby's skin after bath procedures in order to reduce such manifestations of dermatitis as dry skin and irritation.
For allergic rhinitis, children are prescribed nasal corticosteroids, which facilitate breathing and reduce mucosal edema.
In bronchial asthma, a maintenance treatment consisting of inhaled corticosteroids is prescribed;at attacks it is recommended to add a bronchodilator.
With conjunctivitis, eye drops are prescribed in addition to antihistamines.
