3 ways to make a plasticine volcano with your own hands at home
In order to develop a child's interest in chemistry, it is possible to carry out simple interesting chemical experiments at home, for example, to demonstrate the eruption of a volcano, which will undoubtedly cause the child's interest and a storm of emotions. In this article, the master classes with detailed instructions will be presented to help you figure out how to make a plasticine volcano yourself. In particular, options will be described for creating volcanic mock-ups and ways to create volcanic eruptions.
In these videos, young researchers show what materials and how it is possible to easily and easily perform a plasticine volcano.
Method 1: the eruption is made of cotton wool( without chemistry)
In the first master class, a volcanic eruption will not be caused by a chemical reaction, but will be made from conventional wool. In order to perform such a model, it will take clay of several colors, it is desirable to choose clay in darker colors or to mix pieces of different colors, so that the result is a dark color. But in order to fashion a magma, plasticine of orange and yellow flowers will be required, and a sheet of cardboard will be needed.
First, from the sheet of cardboard, you need to cut a circle, then from a piece of dark plasticine you should form a flattened ball and fix it on a cardboard base. Then you need to give the ball the shape of the slide and make a hole on top of the slide. For realism with the help of a blade, it is necessary to make incisions along the whole surface of the slide. Next, from the plasticine of yellow and orange colors, you should make magma by simply cutting thin strips and attaching them to the top of the slide. Then from plasticine of gray color it is necessary to form smoke streams and then wrap clay with usual white cotton wool. The stages and the result of the work are shown in the photo.
Method 2: eruption with soda and vinegar
The second master class will describe the process of creating a plasticine volcano with baking soda, vinegar and a bottle. To work, you will also need a building mix, plaster, paints( watercolor) and scissors are quite suitable.
First of all, it is necessary to make a mock-up of the volcano, for this it is necessary to cut off about the third of the top of the bottle and clothe the resulting part. Then you can apply another building mixture, previously diluted in water. After the base is ready, the neck of the bottle in an inverted form should be fixed on top of the base. Next, the resulting structure should be placed in a warm dry place, so that it is dried.
Then, using a brush and watercolor paint, you need to paint the vinegar in red. Then, into the crater, ie, in the neck of the bottle, we must fill two tablespoons of soda and gradually add the tinted vinegar to the soda, if everything was done according to the instructions, an eruption of the volcano should occur. Below, step by step, the whole process of creating a volcano from plasticine will be illustrated.
Method 3: using the
bottle The third master class will describe another process for modeling the volcano layout. To work you will need a plastic bottle, the volume of which is half a liter, plasticine, sheet of cardboard, tape, stapler, scotch tape, scissors.
First you have to cut the bottle into three parts, then connect the upper and lower parts, fixing the joint with plasticine. Then from the sheet of cardboard it is necessary to make a cardboard cone in the shape of a bottle, it is desirable that the seam is overlapped and the joint can be either sealed with adhesive tape or fixed with a stapler. The lower part of the cone should be sealed with electrical tape. After this, the resulting blank must be pasted with plasticine. Below it will be shown how the volcano looks in the section and in the finished form.
After the volcano is ready, in a separate container you need to mix half a cup of vinegar, a little diluted with water, a teaspoon of dishwashing detergent and a teaspoon of dye. Then in the neck of the bottle you need to pour two teaspoons of soda, add the prepared mixture and observe the eruption of the volcano. The pictures below show the step-by-step process of creating such a man-made volcano.
