How to set up a guitar - tuning a guitar
At some point every novice encounters the fact that he does not know how to tune a guitar. Most often the reason for this is an underdeveloped musical ear and a lack of knowledge about how to generally carry out the adjustment procedure. The more you master the guitar, the better your hearing becomes. The article will tell you about the ways of setting up the tool, in case you do this for the first time.
Setting the guitar with the tuner
This is the simplest way. It does not need any auditory skills, enough tuner at hand. Do not know what a tuner is? This is a special device for tuning the guitar.
Select any device and you can start setting up the instrument. For this, there is a built-in microphone in the tuner. The essence of this method is that when you extract the sound of any string, the tuner displays a note corresponding to the frequency of the string's vibration. So you set up all six of them. The device will show you the note and what you should do with your string( lower or raise).It is necessary to twist the pegs until the indicator is located directly in the center of the tunable note.
Classic tuning
Is there no tuner at hand? Then use the classic method of setting the tool. He got his name for the simple reason that this method is used most often. But it's worth noting that a similar method for a beginner may seem rather complicated.
The main goal is to adjust the string number 1 E( MI).Often, guitarists use pianoforte, a tuning fork or a program that produces the sound of open strings.
There are two types of tuning forks:
- wind;
- throat.
The latter is a small-sized plug with a handle. When you hit at its end, the tuning fork will emit the sound A( A) of the first octave. Your task is to adjust the first string, which is in the clamped state on the fifth fret, according to the sound of the tuning fork.
To do this, you need to lightly hit with a fork on your knee. To strengthen the sound, the tuning fork handle can be put on the table. Next, you extract the sound from string number 1, squeezed in the fifth fret. The sound of the string and tuning fork must be identical.
There are so many varieties of tuning fork. Some are slightly easier to use, but less accurate.
Remember that the success of the guitar tune is directly proportional to the number of your attempts to do this. If you are tuning the instrument manually, you will also check yourself on the tuner, in a few weeks you will be able to tune your guitar completely by yourself.
Tincture with piano
Of course, this option is only available to those who have this instrument at home. It is worth noting that the guitar is well tuned with any instrument. It is very important to have good hearing in this procedure. The piano keys should produce exactly the same sound as the open guitar strings.
Octave mode of setting
This method can be called very accurate, but rather complicated. You need to hear octave sounds. They always sound very smooth, but they have different heights.
How to do:
- The first string is tuned to the tuning fork;
- The second, pressed on the fifth fret, is adjusted on the open string number 1;
- The third, which is pressed on the ninth fret, tunes in unison with the open string number 1;
- The fourth, pressed on the second fret, is tuned in the octave with the open string number 1;
- The fifth, pressed on the seventh fret, is tuned in an octave with an open string number 1;
- The open sixth should be compared to the first open one. It should sound lower by two octaves.
This method is even more difficult than the previous one. Only professionals use it. Flažolet is a game reception on any musical instrument, which consists in extracting the overtone sound. A flaring sound helps to hear any discrepancies in unison. This setting can be called the most accurate.
It's best to extract the flageolets on the fifth, seventh and twelfth fret. In order to remove the flarelet, lightly touch the tip of the finger to the string number 6 above the fifth threshold of the fret. Please note that it is over the door, not over the fret. Then, with your right hand, you need to remove the sound, and then at the same time, remove the left hand from the string. Now you need to extract the flaichole over the seventh harmony of the string number 5.Both flageoletons should be smooth.
- the seventh-string flarelet of string 1 should have a unison with the flajolet of string number 2 on the fifth fret;
- flajulelet of the twelfth fret of string number 3 - with string number 1, pressed on the third fret;
- an open third string is tuned to the string number 2, which is pressed on the eighth fret;
- flaisticlet of the seventh fret of string number 3 - with a flajolet of string number 4 on the fifth fret.
- flaisticlet of the seventh fret of string number 4 - with a flajolet of string number 5 on the fifth fret.
That's how the guitar tuning takes place. As you can see, you can choose an option and it's simpler and more complicated.
