Chronic pain - Causes, symptoms and treatment. MF.
Chronic pain is a pain( an unpleasant feeling of discomfort) that persists or progresses over a long period of time. Chronic pain usually persists for at least 3 months. Unlike acute pain, which occurs suddenly in response to a particular damage, and is usually treatable, chronic pain does not go away over time and is often resistant to medical treatment. Chronic pain, as a rule, affects the ability to work, daily life and the quality of life.
Chronic pain can be associated with various diseases, injuries or it may be preceded by trauma. Chronic pain in old age is often associated with degenerative processes caused by age, including arthritis and disorders affecting the spine. These conditions often cause pain in the back, neck, thighs and knees.
Chronic pain may worsen due to weather, environmental and / or psychological factors.
There are various treatment options for people with chronic pain. The first help is to remove the symptom of pain and improve the person's self-awareness to improve his daily life. Interestingly, chronic pain can sometimes be cured only by quitting smoking and / or caffeine, weight loss by optimizing nutrition and / or sleep. Chronic pain requires strict medical supervision.
