"Diaper irritation" is in fact only a general term, covering a large number of different irritations,

rashes and diaper rash in the area covered by the diaper. Here's how to identify some types of skin irritations in the gluteal and inguinal areas and conduct treatment.

Allergic ring. The red ring around the anus of the child indicates that the culprit is some irritant in the diet, like a rash near the mouth of a child when a new product is introduced. Excessive amounts of citrus and citrus juice, as well as wheat - these are the main irritants. Eliminate this product to see if the red ring disappears. It may even be necessary that you expel this product from your diet if you are breastfeeding.(See for food allergies in more detail.)

Contact dermatitis. Appearing as red flat swelling, as if scalded with boiling water, contact dermatitis appears on the areas rubbing against diapers, usually around the waist and at the top of the thighs. A clear sign of irritation of this type is the fact that the folds where the skin does not come into direct contact with diapers remain unaffected. Causes of irritation are chemical irritants in the fiber itself from which the diaper is made, or in a detergent, or chemical irritants that are formed when urine and feces are in the diaper for a long time. Friction of the synthetic material against sensitive skin is another possible cause, as well as the chemical changes experienced by the stool during diseases accompanied by diarrhea or during antibiotic treatment.

To cure dermatitis, lower the baby's ass into warm water for five minutes;after that, if you feel even a slight smell of ammonia coming from the baby's buttocks, keep it in the water even longer. Leave the baby without diapers for as long as possible. Try different diapers and apply an over-the-counter 1% hydrocortisone ointment twice a day for several days.

Intertrigo( intertrigo, intertriginous dermatitis). The appearance of the intertrigo is the exact opposite of contact dermatitis. It appears in places where the skin folds rub against each other, for example, in the inguinal folds. It is caused by heat and lingering moisture in the folds, which causes skin irritation. When urine touches sites affected by intertrigo, the skin can be burned, which makes the baby cry. For the treatment of diaper rash, lubricate the irritated skin with white Vaseline every time the diaper is changed.

Seborrheic dermatitis( seborrheic eczema, children's eczema). The edges of lesions affected by seborrheic dermatitis are clearly marked;with this disease there is a large red spot in the groin, on the genitals and in the lower part of the abdomen. This is the kind of diaper rash, which is harder to watch - more protruding above the skin, rough, thick and more oily than in all other cases. In addition to the above-described preventive measures, this type of irritation is usually treated with an over-the-counter 0.5% or 1% cortisone ointment or, in severe cases, a prescription ointment. Caution: do not use cortisone ointment on the diaper-covered area longer than the prescribed time, as excessive use can lead to skin damage. Candidiasis( fungal rash). If the rash on the baby's diaper cover has not disappeared, even though you have taken all of the above preventive measures and applied the aforementioned over-the-counter remedies, it may be the cause of yeast and should try an antifungal ointment dispensed without a prescription or prescription.

The rash, caused by yeast, is reddish pink, swollen, forming spots with sharp edges, mainly on the genitals, but also has satellite spots scattered around the main affected area and most often looking like small pustules. Fungal infection can be superimposed on any of the above diaper irritations, if it is not cured in a few days. Sometimes, if the fungal rash does not go away, oral administration of antifungal agents is required, as in the treatment of thrush.

Impetigo( pemphigus of newborns). Caused by bacteria( usually streptococci or staphylococci), impetigo looks like blisters the size of a coin, from which the liquid oozes and which are covered with a crust of honey. They are scattered around the anal area, mainly on the buttocks. This type of rash requires the use of a doctor prescribed ointment with antibiotics and sometimes oral antibiotic intake.

Irritation from diapers is the result of a civilized life, in which the buttocks of a child are permanently closed. Like all inconvenient periods of early childhood, it also passes.
