They still grow in the steppes of Central Asia. These species are very beautiful, but have not received wide distribution

    due to the difficulty of reproduction. They are promising for obtaining new varieties.

    Existing varieties of tulips are divided into a number of groups according to the shape of the flower and the period of flowering.

    Liliaceae - Aladdin, Alaska, Marietta, White Triumphator, etc.

    Parrot- Black Parrott, Fantasy, Orange Favorit and others with split flower segments.

    Tulip varieties belonging to the group of the so-called Darwinian hybrids have recently become widespread: the Bolshoi Theater London, Parade, Diplomat and others.

    They were obtained in Holland by a well-known breeder D. Lefeber by crossing Dutch tulips from the group of Darwin and wild-growing Tulip Foster in Russia.

    These varieties, outstanding in brightness and size of the flower, early blossom and reproduce well, are resistant to diseases and pests. Often, in the conditions of our zone, they blossom by May 1, and with the use of film shelter - in late April.

    The disadvantage of tulips is the absence of flavor in most existing varieties. However, some, mainly terry varieties, have a delicate and delicate aroma( Eros, Murillo, Mei Wonder, etc.).

    Varieties of daffodils are not as diverse in color and shape as tulips, but they attract attention with their elegant form, and a number of varieties are a pleasant aroma. The predominant color of the flower is white and yellow. In recent years, varieties with pink coloring have appeared( Lady Bird, Zink Glory).

    According to the structure of the flower, narcissuses are divided into the following main groups:

    Poetic - with a very low bright crown, that is, an outgrowth in the center of the flower;

    Small crown - the height of the crown does not exceed 1/3 of the length of the perianth segments;

    Coarse-crown - crown shorter than perianth, but more than 1/3 of its length;

    Tubular - tube or elongated crown, in length equal to or longer than the proportion of perianth;

    Terry - without crown, with increased amount of perianth;

    Tacetovidnye - on one peduncle two - five small flowers with a strong and pleasant aroma.

    The most hardy are varieties from the group of poetic, less winter-hardy-tattoosiform and tubular. The latter require mandatory shelter for the winter 6-8-centimeter layer of insulation material( sheet, sawdust, peat, etc.).
