As a result of the development of industry, including chemical industry, a large number of various medicines have been obtained, which have become firmly established in practical medicine. Along with a positive therapeutic effect, they also have a side effect. Throughout the world, there is an increase in the use of medicines among the population. And quite often people themselves prescribe drugs, i.e.are engaged in self-medication. The most popular in this sense among the people are antibiotics, sulfonamides and antipyretic agents. Accordingly, the incidence of side effects arising from drug therapy has increased. Among them, the medicinal allergy plays a significant role. With drug allergy, the organism has the highest sensitivity to drugs. Typically, the reaction occurs with repeated use of drugs, less often - with a long primary course of treatment.

AD Ado divides the medicinal allergies into 3 groups: acute, subacute and protracted. Acute develop instantaneously or within the first hour from the moment of entering the sensitized organism and is clinically manifested by anaphylactic shock, Quinck's edema, asthma attack. Subacute reactions occur within the first 24 hours after the administration of the drug. These include hives, sometimes fever. Long-acting reactions develop several days or weeks after the administration of the drug allergen. Clinically, they are manifested by eczema, urticaria, bronchial asthma.

In an infant, an allergy can also appear through breast milk if the medicine is given to the mother.

Prophylaxis of drug allergy concludes primary and secondary activities. Primary activities are conducted in the following cases. We share the opinion of B. Ye. V. Votchal, who pointed out that it is necessary to prescribe medicines only when it is absolutely necessary, when it is impossible not to prescribe, because the harm of inaction will undoubtedly be greater than the drug effect. Do not take the same drugs for a long time. When carrying out treatment, it is necessary to remember the possibility of the emergence of a drug allergy. The purpose of the second prophylaxis is to prevent the development of an allergic reaction in a body sensitized to medicines. Before taking the medicine, you should exclude the presence of hypersensitivity( itching, hives, allergic rhinitis, bronchial asthma).
